July 13, 201016 yr Author The Reds to miss Ubaldo this series with Colorado. He will start on Monday in Florida. Where did you read that?
July 13, 201016 yr The Reds are on an 88-win pace, which is a little better than expected, and I think some indicators favor a second-half dropoff. So far, they've gotten better-than-expected production from three spots. Brandon Phillips, for the first time in his career, is getting on base at a clip above the league average. Scott Rolen has been healthy for the whole season, which is a surprise in itself. And the production at catcher (Hanigan, Hernandez) has been way better than anyone had a right to expect. Mike Leake isn't likely to throw 90 or so innings with a 3.50ish ERA in the second half, but maybe Edinson Volquez's return and Travis Wood's emergence could take up some of the slack. And will Cueto, Arroyo, etc., keep up their level of performance? At this point, the only real area where the Reds figure to reasonably get better is the bullpen. I have some doubts about that, too.
July 13, 201016 yr Buster Olney: Cincinnati Reds Games remaining against teams with records over .500: 25 Home games: 35 of 72 Conversation piece: Look, it can't get much better than this for the Reds. They finish the first half of the season leading the division, and they have the easiest finishing schedule in the big leagues. This is who they play from Sept. 10 through Sept. 22, as they make their push for the playoffs -- Pittsburgh, Arizona, Houston and Milwaukee.
July 13, 201016 yr Author MLB on CBS Sports I don't think they know what they're talking about. Jiminez will pitch 2, 3 innings max tonight. I don't see anyway possible that the Rockies give him 5 days off after throwing tonight. I think we'll see Jiminez pitch either Saturday or Sunday against the Reds.
July 13, 201016 yr I predicted 82-80 so heck yea I'm happy ! This team don't quit and if we can stay healthy we can be there into October !

Well if you don't believe that then look at the Rockies website. It shows Hammel, De La Rosa and Cook over the weekend. http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/news/probable_pitchers/index.jsp?c_id=col

July 14, 201016 yr You would think the Rockies website would know what their talking about, but it's still hard for me to believe that they would give Jiminez 5 days off after pitching only 2 innings last night. That may just be the way they want their rotation set up for the second half, lots of teams use the break to juggle their rotation.
July 14, 201016 yr That may just be the way they want their rotation set up for the second half, lots of teams use the break to juggle their rotation. You're right, but I, like LRCW, find it odd that Jiminez won't be at the top of the rotation...

July 14, 201016 yr Author It's called being careful with your franchise pitcher ... He's had 7 games where his pitch count was 115 or over, with two of them being 128 pitch count games. You call that being careful?
