If you were still simply a Lebron fan like myself you would be pretty happy right now, I know I am, just hoping he doesn't go back to Cleveland and get sucked dry. I'm okay with the Miami thing, In a way though I would love to see him go to New York and then they work the sign and trade with Lee to bring in Monte Ellis at point, maybe a Mike Miller at the two, then Lebron, Al Harrington, and Amare. But Miami will work. So would Chicago, just anywhere but Cleveland, a place he will never get more than past their prime and average NBA guys.

 

It would actually be easier for him to win the next 3 titles in Chicago than Miami IMO. That's what's killing me w/ this crap. He would have a top 5 PG, a top 7 PF, a good other wing in Deng who can guard scoring wings, a good bench player in Gibson. That isn't even mentioning a C who would be the perfect 4th best player on a championship team that doesn't need points, plays hard, rebounds and defends like crazy. Kobe did this exact thing he even had Jim Gray involved. Do people forget he "almost signed" with the Clippers? He had I. Thomas meet him to give him a pitch about the Knicks. He opted out of a deal to get a bigger and longer one. He demanded a trade, then when the Bulls wanted to do it he demanded that Deng not be involved in that trade. Lebron has given everything to Cleveland and they have given him Antwan Jamison (34 years old), Shaq, and Mo Williams. Could have got Amare last year but would not give up Hickson, who didn't even hardly see the floor during the playoffs. Lebron has said his main objective is to win, nothing more, nothing less. What's so wrong with him going somewhere where he can do that? His number one priority? Like I said I loved the Cavs because of Lebron, but his best chances to win there have already came and went, especially with teams in the East stacking the deck this offseason and getting better, while the Cavs are staying the same and getting older. They wouldn't have been able to work a trade for Paul or anyone else because they have no one on their roster anybody wants. Lebron loves Cleveland, will always love Cleveland, but the smartest thing he could ever do if he really wants to get a ring is to cut his ties, burn his bridges, and get out of there.

That I disagree with. They've done a lot to get him a ring. They just tried to do it the last two years rather than have cap space this summer. If they would have won the title this year I think he would have stayed. I think he still might stay, but they've given it their best effort. LBJ supposedly told them he'd rather have Jamison than Amare. I'm not sure if it's true, but that's the rumor.

The only thing LeBron has done wrong in this process is having this special. I refuse to denounce LeBron for seeking either the best deal he can get or the best chance he can have for titles. Some of the stuff in this thread is absolutely comical, and I feel 100% certain a great amount of it contradicts statements made by some of these posters previously. As someone noted up the line, the knock on LeBron is his lack of titles, but actively seeking the best situation to get those titles is now not enough. No, he has to somehow accomplish it in Cleveland or really anywhere but Miami because that's where he'd have the best shot.

 

If he goes to Miami, yes, that would mean for as many championships he won with Wade, he'd be one shy of catching him. As opposed to him staying on zero for the foreseeable future by staying in Cleveland and possibly being more than 1 behind? I'd take the former, thank you very much.

 

I don't see how LBJ can be sullied by partnering up with other superstars in an attempt to win titles. Do you really think less of Garnett's title because he won it with Allen and Pierce? Is Garnett somehow not the more "global" player because he went to Pierce's team? Do you think less of Kobe's titles because he won them with Shaq and then Gasol (especially the Shaq ones)? MJ's titles because of Pippen? I really feel like the message here is that he has to do it by himself or with par talent like he did when he single handedly put them in the finals in 2007.

Name one other great player in NBA history who has done what LeBron is doing. Don't give me Bosh or some other all-star either. I'm talking all-timers, not just all-stars. I wouldn't be that mad if he went to Chicago or NY or NJ, disappointed, but not mad. But going to Miami to play with Wade and Bosh is a straight up cop-out to me. It's like he's saying that he's not good enough to lead a team to a title. He could go to Chicago and play with D-Rose, Noah and Boozer and still be on a talented team but they would actually have to fight for a championship, not just waltz to one like they eventually will start doing in Miami.

 

Could you imagine Jordan, Bird, and Magic teaming up? SSC, like I said I've got to the point to where I can't stand talking to you on here. You always act like you know so much about me and it's really crazy.

 

1. I'm not a LeBron fan because I'm not loyal like Kobe fans are? First off bub, being loyal and being real are two totally different things. Many Kobe fans follow him so blindly they see none of his faults and that's why I used to couldn't stand him. I hate being like that, though I am generally extremely biased towards LBJ. But, being honest doesn't mean that I'm not a real fan. So I should be like the stereotypical-Kobe fan and turn the other way when LeBron does something crazy or something I don't like? This is America, we are free to disagree, even with people we like. As a matter of fact, that commentis so ridiculous I'm not even going to step into in any further.

2. Having the Cavs back? Sure. I'll assume that I spend and have spent much more time and money going to Cavs games than you have. They became my team because LeBron is my boy. After 7 years of going to games there, you do get kind of attached. But considering you probably don't go and watch them to often, I'll assume you'd know nothing about that.

3. Selfish reasons on my part? Last time I checked the Cavs don't pay my salary. Him playing in Cleveland makes it easier for me to go and watch some games, but I could watch him for other teams just as well. My wanting him to stay really has more to do with his relationship with Cleveland and the fans through the years. Did you ever go to the Q (Gund then) before LeBron? It was a dump. He made that team, he makes the city. It is rumored that the Cavs were his first choice, so I don't know how selfish it is for me to not want him to leave.

Can't compare Garnett's title to Jordan's or Kobe's IMO. For starters, Jordan won 6, Kobe won 5 and Garnett only has won 1. Jordan won 6 Finals MVPs, Kobe won 2, Garnett 1. Jordan and Kobe won their titles on their original teams, Garnett accepted a trade to the Celtics after they traded for Ray Allen.

 

Garnett also went to the Celtics who had a coach with a losing record, and two stars that had never won or been to the Finals. Big difference in that and LeBron teaming up with a former Finals MVP and Pat Riley who has numerous championships. What LeBron is doing is unprecedented IMO.

Looking ahead 10-15 years down the road I could see Wade being regarded as the better player if he stays healthy for another 6-7 years. I completely expect him to lead the team in scoring and to have the ball at the end of games because the Heat are his team. It's going to be hard to argue against that.
