We can agree to disagree when it comes to whether anyone would have made a difference.

But ... I still find it pretty interesting that Cooper is remotely proud of winning the small school freshman championship against a team that had 5 or 6 starters who were actually freshman. (The rest were 7th or 8th graders) but .. if that makes the Jags feel good about their selves .. I am all for it.

 

The difference will be what happens with those kids as they move up.

Beechwood has historically proven that they take kids who are not the most talented--and develop them into talented units.

At this point--the verdict is out on Cooper---and it shouldn't come in until the season is over.

 

Beechwood will have a few open spots in the schedule next year .. it sure would be great to Cooper bang heads with the red and white Tigers.

 

I'm not sure if you were part of last years discussions and it was beat to death but NO, Cooper players and parents were not happy about playing in the small school division but decisions were made way beyond the season started and I'm pretty sure you won't see Cooper in the small school division in the future. I'm not sure how these kids will progress in the future and 4-5 have already given up football to concentrate on other sports, which I disagree with but a kid should do what he wants to do. I'm sure every school has kids that drop the sport though. Good luck to Beechwood as I have nothing against them. I hope all the kids stay healthy and have fun.

Conner definitely not. Boone should be much better with returning a lot of there defense and having the first or second best running back in the district next to Travis Elliot. Do YOU honestly think Sk has a better team than last year? Not a chance. Especially after scheduling High School teams now this upcoming year i mean they played Scott last year? Boone may have not a great team this year but everyone else in the district besides Ryle has gotten worse. Cooper plays no one and are extremely over rated this season. Campbell is always bad. Conner and Sk lost everthing they had from last year. Look for Ryle easily winning the district this year with Boone being runner-up.

Not that I'm a math major, but the Highlands QB started 9 out of 15 games, which if I'm correct is better than half. According to the roster he's an inch taller than he was last year and is almost 50 pounds heavier. Things change in a year for a lot of players and teams. For those that have not seen Cory Compton for Highlands watch out.

A lot of people play varsity football. Don't get me wrong, SK will be a good football team and varsity experience means a lot. But...you really think they are going to be better?? If thats the case, watch out for SK.

Serious as a heart attack. Cooper returns Bradley who can be argued as either the 1st or 2nd top back in NKY this season. They return all their receivers who have now played together in the offense for 3 years. They will have a new starting QB in Morris(assuming the job is his) that is not only a threat to pass but run, not to mention they lost only two starting offensive linemen from this last year. Beechwood is a class act program and an extremely successful one. I'm not saying that Cooper would kill them when they played, but it certainly would not be a three touchdown victory. I had the chance to watch Cooper play Holmes last year and had it not been for a late kickoff return to seal the deal for Holmes, that game could have gone the other way.

Travis Elliot is the number one running back without a doubt in the district. Next to Oppenheimer, then you can argue if Bradley even deserves to be third in the district.

SK will be better than last year! I think they will only lose one game and return to the State Finals! They will sweep district again!

I'm a little surprised that Bellevue hasn't been mentioned. They went 9-4 last year and should still be a contender for one of the top two seeds in their district.

 

When you lose 18 seniors in a small school its going to be very tough to stay at that level off play. Not to mention a new coaching staff, they will have a decent record because of their district but not a top ten season.

If SK is better than last year, I will be surprised they graduated 2 Division 1 scholarship players. I think they will be good but I think you are underestimating Miles Simpson's impact on that team, and if they make the State Finals they will win it because they have to beat, Henry Clay and Trinity or St. X just to make the finals. Who do you see them loosing to?

It was only 80 yards in 2008 and Travis has never scored on SK!

I would consider getting over 150 yards a good game and 2 touchdowns. Most teams run the ball more than they pass in Highschool.
