Track the Reds (Week 10)

Featured Replies

Too many things to point out that cost the Reds tonight, but a few that stand out.

1. Phillips seeming to be in no hurry to turn the double play on Kendall in the 5th that cost the Reds a run.

2. Not sure why Dusty didn't bunt Bruce in the 10th with a runner at 2nd and nobody out. Not too upset about that one, but I like my chances a lot better with a runner at 3rd and 1out.

3. Votto cutting the ball of in the top of the 11th. Votto needs to let that ball go through unless he hears Hernandez yelling to cut the ball off.

4. Way too many missed opportunites in the 8th-11th innings. I honestly expect the Cards to sweep the D'Backs, so hopefully the Reds can bounce back, and take the next two.

Why did we not send Hernandez? Comes back to haunt us because Votto gets scared during crunch time.

Are you not familiar with Jose Guillen's cannon in right field? As far as the Votto getting scared during crunch time comment. Give me a break.

Votto cutting the ball off was no doubt a huge mistake. They had the guy by 10 feet if he lets it go. Would have been really nice to take that one...

I looked it up and he has 1 sacrifice in 1085 MLB Plate Appearances and exactly zero sacrifices in 1512 minor league plate appearances. That is truly mind boggling.

I am starting to be real concern with Votto. He does not even try to catch a ball by Rolen that started the 3 run inning. He gave up on the ball and if it had not hit him in the leg, it goes right past him. Votto just don't look like he is having fun or is real excited about being out there. He cut the ball which no cuts the ball when the go ahead run is scoring. How many swings has he swing that looked like he did not know where he was at? Plus, his last at bat, he should be pumped and bare down and instead he steps in swings at the first bad pitch and just strolls back to the dugout. No big deal. There is just something wrong with Votto.

I'm guessing this was just a huge brain cramp on Votto's part. Thom on tv and Ramon behind the plate were totally shocked by him cutting it. In that situation even if you only have a 5% chance of getting the runner you let the ball go through. I'd be curious to hear if he did it on his own or if someone told him to cut it.

Being a LH Dusty trusted Bruce to get the ball to the right side. Bruce is just not mature enough to trust in that situation. He swings at a pitch a foot outside. Hard to pull that pitch.

I hope you are wrong on this but I tend to agree. He definitely did not seem to have his head into the game and one could say he cost them the game with his gaffes.

There were a bunch of situations that cost the team this game. Votto stands out the most tonight, but plenty of guys didn't get it done when needed...

If the reason they didn't sacrifice is because he can't bunt that is hard to believe. I mean even Harang who seems to me very awkward and not very athletic at all can get a bunt down every once in awhile.

It's hard to believe a guy with 1 career sacrifice bunt in his career isn't a reliable option to do so? Come on guys...

Bruce bunted for a base hit not long ago when the shift dictated it.

Votto has not been the same player since his quote "stiff neck". He has lost his intensity.

So laying down a bunt with a massive ammount of space is just like putting down a sac bunt with a slow Rolen at 2nd? Seriously? Done talking Reds for the night. You guys are too much...

Can't win all the games no reason to get up upset over that one its a long season. Was no one left on the bench to pinch run for Ramon?
