Playing for the Bulls would be a joke. He wins 3 titles in Chicago he is an overrated phenom who couldn't deliver and who will never be better than the guy with the statue outside his home arena. He wins 1 title in New York he is the greatest Knick ever and forever the King of New York. He wins multiple titles in New York he enters the argument of GOAT. He'd have to win at least 6 in Chicago just to be the 2nd best Bull.

LeBron has worn 23 his whole life and is changing to 6 to honor the number 23 because he feels noone should wear it. He's building it up more than I am. I am simply bringing a Chicago fans perspective. He'll always be second best and from a guy who has nicknamed himself "King James", "Chosen One" and put out commercials telling us to Witness(For the record, I love it) I have a hard time believing he'll settle for second fiddle in Chicago.

I'm like you on this, as far as can't get enough. I'm most interested to see where everyone ends up. It's going to be weird possibly seeing guys like LeBron, DWade, Amare, Bosh, etc., in different uniforms.

After hanging out with probably 20 of my buddies family members, who are from Chicago, this weekend at his wedding, I can tell you that this is pretty much 100% not true lol. They love their Michael Jordan. Yeah they want more titles for their city, but I believe what PP92 said is definitely true for Chicago fans. Maybe not those under 20...but the rest of the city will feel how he has described, IMO.

The more I think read about owners makes me think the Bulls are a longer shot than people think. I think it comes down to Miami, NJ, Cleveland, and a very small chance he goes to Dallas if they can find a way to sign and trade for him. Chicago looks too easy, but is Reinsdorf willing to do what it takes financially?

 

I think he will. LeBron James could double the value of the Bulls so he would have no excuse not to.

You know I don't buy this. It is a what have you done for me lately kind of world, and I think Kobe and the Lakers prove that. Kobe can be mentioned or even argued to be the greatest Laker of all-time, but I guarantee you over the last few years Laker fans in LA have thought that about him before he had the individual success to back it up. Maybe they won't move him ahead of Jordan, but if LeBron wins 3 titles in Chi-town I don't see anyone complaining.

 

Sure he could go down as the GOAT in NY but what is the realistic chance of that happening? They could add Bosh and no one else. Bosh, James, Gallinari, Wilson Chander and Toney Douglas don't sound like a team that can beat LA or even Orlando to me. He'll be 26 next season and he would be 27 if he's lucky before he had a realistic chance to have the supporting cast to win.

 

And if LBJ keeps up his career stats and somehow won the 6 titles you mentioned he's going to have plenty of ammo to be in the coversation with Jordan. We'd be talking about a guy that would have 6 titles, probably 4-6 MVPs, and career averages of about 29 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 7.5 APG, 2 SPG, and over a block. Those are unheard of as a total package. Not saying that would push him past Jordan, but they'd be sitting on a tier by themselves I'd imagine. That said I don't see him getting to 6.

Awww, come on Cats....LeBron claims to be a historian of the game. He knows where he stands right now compared to MJ and if he doesn't have the desire to be better than MJ then why is he playing? He cares. Every player in the NBA cares. They may say they don't publicly like Kobe did in postgame interviews after game 7 but they all care. They all want to be better than their predecessors. Their PR people earn their money when they advise them to defer to the older heads. I have a hard time believing that deep down LeBron thinks MJ is better than him but if he doesn't realize that he will always be second fiddle to MJ in Chicago then he needs better people around him.

Isn't Rose's rookie contract up after this year(team option for year 4, maybe)? Suppose 1 ball isn't enough for the two of them? Not to mention, if Chicago signs 2 max players this free agency period then you can kiss Derrick Rose goodbye in a year or two. He'll want his money and Chicago can't afford 3 max players. Then he is stuck in Chicago with who knows what. And that's assuming Chicago can sign two max players this year. The only thing Chicago can offer is winning a title in the next year or two. How suited are they to winning titles for multiple years beyond the next two? Can you imagine if he goes to Chicago and doesn't win titles? He'd be the biggest loser. Ever.

I think it'd be similar to Big Blue Nation and Calipari....if I may......Chicago will be the happiest place for a year or two(like UK) but if he doesn't bring immediate results(title) the fans will become restless and constantly remind him that he is and never will be MJ. I think he'd face more pressure in Chicago to produce results more than anywhere else. How forgiving would Chicago be in 3 years if hasn't delivered a title yet? About as forgiving as UK fans will be if Cal doesn't produce a title in 5 years. Is that a fair assessment?

Or if he goes there and wins say only 2 titles over 6 years. Once he puts on that Chicago jersey, he will be responsbile for coming pretty darn close to delivering what Michael did. He would be putting a lot of pressure on himself.

First off we have no idea what the contract will be after next season. There are a bunch of negotiations that have to take place. Secondly you can go as high over the cap as you want as long as you are re-signing players that are already under contract can't you? Ie...Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Bynum. Meaning Rose and Noah can be paid still kind of like Rondo was paid this year even though they have PP, KG, and Allen.

I do not get the feeling that he has the same desire to pass Jordan that guys like Kobe have. LeBron may wear 23 and all but he is definitely his own guy. He is the one guy in the league who would think that he does not have to compare himself to MJ IMO.
