I believe Lebron and Wade will stay with their current teams. I also believe Miami will sign Bosh or Amare to pair with Wade.

 

Just a guess. Lebron leaving wouldn't be a surprise, but Wade leaving Miami would surprise me a bit.

 

If James wanted to stay I think he would have at the very least called Izzo back. That made it seem pretty final to me.

The thing I think people are missing is how well would Rose and James play together? Same thing w/ Wade and James. Is James really going to go to Miami where Wade already has a title and always be one behind him? James needs the ball in his hands to be great. Rose and Wade are the same. I think Joe Johnson would actually compliment all 3 of them better. I think Harris is a better fit for James than Rose. It might be crazy b/c of how good Rose is and how good he can become, but there has to be some thought that the Billionaire owner is willing to pay the tax. Harris, LBJ, Bosh, and Lopez is a really good start.

-Harris and fillers in a sign and trade to Toronto who want something for Bosh and he wants that extra money he'd get by doing that.

-Favors and something to New Orleans for Paul (might have to take on a contract or two). Could they get something better than that for that cheap?

Unless a miracle happens I agree. Bosh taking a S/T and Toronto taking someone from Cleveland would keep him obviously. The Hornets giving away CP3 which is unlikely would keep him. Outside of that I don't think they have a chance. Cleveland may cease to exist.

It is very interesting thinking about it from the perspective of crunch time. Who would you rather have the ball in their hand when it really matters, Wade or James? I would want Wade everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. I don't think James would mind deferring to Wade in big moments... times at which LeBron has not flourished consistently.

Name me a star player in the league right now more important to his team than Lebron? He is the ultimate team player considering his status as one of the leagues icons. He was a guy who got slack for the longest time for giving up the ball to teammates late in games because they had good looks. He's a guy whos always going to have close to double digit assists and double digit boards. Me first guys do not do that. Me first guys do not hold the leagues best record two years consecutively with Delonte West, Mo Williams, and Anderson Varejo. You keep this same Cavaliers team, remove Lebron, they don't even make the playoffs next year. That's how important Lebron is to them. You switch Kobe and Lebron and you would have Lebron on the verge of winning three straight and have almost the entire Cavs roster about to come to blows with Kobe.

 

It's not a matter of Lebron wanting to stay in Cleveland, its a matter of him realizing that no matter what happens management has already went all in trying to win now, and has lost all the chips in doing so. The way the team is set up they would almost have to entirely tear it down and build it back up before they will be able to actually put a team together that would contend for consecutive championships. They owe it to Lebron they have made it as far as they have the past few seasons. He makes Mo Williams better, he makes Delonte West better, he makes Varejo, Hickson, all of those guys better the way he manages the game. The Cavaliers cannot get any further than what they have gotten the way they are built now, and Lebron doesn't have three or more years left to wait on them to rebuild. All hope they had left went when they didn't pull the trigger on the Amare deal, all to hold on to Hickson who didn't even really see the floor during the playoffs. Jamison is on the tail end, they have no cap room. Theres no where to go, unless they pull a miracle sign and trade.

 

Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade and Deron Williams are all guys who immediately come to mind. Take any of them off of their teams and they aren't playoff teams.

 

You make some interesting points. Ni just have a hard time calling LeBron a team guy just because he passes the ball. He enjoys looking good and distributing the ball makes him look good. Physically there is no reason he shouldn't average 40 points a game. I think he passes too much.

 

All this could be for naught since ESPN is 12 hours behind Stephen A Smith in reporting that the Heat are the frontrunners for LeBron's services after Free Agent Summit over the weekend with Wade and Bosh. I can handle that and would be very intrigued to see how good that team would be.

NO would be looking to dump salary, while getting a good player in return. I don't think the Nets would have to give up Lopez, I think Favors would be good enough if NO is serious about trading Paul. To be honest with you if I already had LeBron and Bosh, I wouldn't give up Lopez for Paul. JMO.

I agree. They'd be set up to control at least the next 5 years of the NBA. If those 3 took paycuts to play together then other players would hopefully follow suit and we could see one or more super teams pop up. Carmelo could opt out after next year and team up with CP3 or something. It'd be like playing a video game with no trade restrictions but in real life. I can dig it.

Miami's owner will pay the luxury tax. Riley is a proven winner. It's freaking South Beach. Chicago is cold in the winters. No state income taxes. 3 super-stars that not only know each other well (unlike Noah and Rose to an extent), but really like each other. What's not to love? All 3 will probably have an option to do this all over again in 3y ears. Wade's age isn't an issue. To me LBJ always being one behind Wade would be more of an issue.
