LeBron James Free Agency Thread

A lot of fans, not most hardcore ones, do forget that Shaq played in Orlando. He will always be remembered as a Laker and the three-peat of titles.

Wow. Really? You guys are really the only people I talk to regularly about the NBA. I would end the discussion with anyone if they said they forgot he played in Orlando. I don't know. Maybe it's because Shaq is a year or two older than me so I remember him in high school.

I am not saying knock it out of memory like they do on Men in Black, but the name LeBron will not be associated with the Cleveland Cavs. Just like Brett Favre is not with the Falcons or Bill Belichik with the Browns.

I'm with you. I remember Shaq's days in Orlando but when I think of him it's the LA days. Same thing for me with Garnett. Even though he played a decade in Minnesota, I think I'll remember him as a Celtic.

I agree with your point, but I must say...those two examples were terrible. :D

How about Johhny Damon with the Royals or A's...Most people remember him as the Red Sox, or Ortiz with the Twins.

Shawn Kemp as a UK Wildcat, Scottie Pippen as a Seattle SuperSonic, Kobe as a Charlotte Hornet .

 I was just going to say I'll remember Kobe as a Hornet....

I remember Curt Schilling as a Philly and as an Oriole. Pedro as a Dodger and Expo, and of course how can anyone forget Jerry Rice as a Denver Bronco...

Yeah they are terrible. Work with me here. :D

Steve Nash with the Suns. Maybe that is a better one.

I don't know. Anyone who has followed the NBA since the 80's should remember Shaq in Orlando. That was when the signs were there that Shaq is an egotistical baby who can't get along with superstar wing players. It happened 2 other times after he left Orlando. Makes me wonder how Shaq and LeBron got along now that I think about it.

Regardless of where LeBron ends up I have a hard time believing any of us will forget his Cleveland days.

I'll remember the healthy and young KG(Minnesota) and the bitter old man KG(Celtics). He had 1 good year in Boston. Sold his knees for that ring.

I think Shaq and LeBron got along because LeBron was the first major wing player he played with that was already established. Shaq being in Orlando and then LA coincided with the emergence of Penny and Kobe. Shaq was already the big Deal in those places before the wings got established so Shaq had room to dissent. Sort o the same thing in Miami, Wade was already really good but was a young player in the league.

There was no room for him to be like that with LeBron. LeBron is arguably the biggest star in the league and completely owned the Cavs & the city of Cleveland over the last 7 years. JMO. And I'll never forget the Cleveland days, I've had so much fun going to Cavs games since LeBron came into the league.
