Last time I was at Knotty Pine it was terrible.

If you are going after the show, you need to check how late these places are open. For example, Knotty Pine's kitchen closes at 9.

 

All the restaurants suggested are excellent. Here are a couple more thoughts:

 

Chinese - Oriental Wok located on Buttermilk Pk just off I-75 across from Montgomery Inn.

 

Mexican - Montoya's located in a strip center next to Oriental Wok. Former Bengal Max Montoya owns and it has been around for 20 years.

 

Chez Nora or De Felice's - These two are located across from each other in Covington's Main Strasse neighborhood; 5th Street exit off I-75 then two blocks and go right on Main Street. Interesting bar and restaurant area that is sure to have options for you for a late dinner.

 

Crestview Hills Town Center - For convenience, this might work. There are plenty of options but a lot of it is the higher level chain type restaurants. You will pass this on your way to NKU. Dixie Highway exit off I-275.

York Street Cafe in Newport is a favorite "date place" for me. The food is fantastic, it's a completely unique environment, and it's not too terribly pricey...although it's not particularly "cheap" either. The crowd is usually pretty diverse, and it's nice enough to see folks there occasionally in suits/dresses, but khakis or even jeans aren't out of place either.

 

I'd also put Virgil's Cafe in Bellevue right up there with York Street. It has a kind of similar menu, similar prices, and similar atmosphere, although I'm partial to York Street I suppose.

Sounds like you are coming in from the back side of the campus off of John's hill road? The Arena is located to the right on the other side of the parking garage from where it sounds you are entering the campus. Can't miss it.

There is a real nice restaurant Rafferty's right next to the Florence Hilton and

has excellent food. Recommend the Steak or Prime Rib. Call them they will accomodate you. I have never had bad service or a bad meal there. It is walking distance 150 yds from Hiltons front door. JD

Voice, you hit all of the top spots! All great choices!!! Didn't realize Knotty closed that early.

 

I may be thinking about weeknight closing time. Since it is Saturday, they might stay open later.

I dont know what your budget is, but if you want the best steaks in the area, and it comes at a price, Cincinnati's Precinct, Jeff Ruby's or Mortons is close by. Expensive, but a great treat, and perfect for a special weekend. All 3 are very close to Highland Heights, and about a 15-20 min trip back to Florence.

I've always liked Karlo's in Florence for Italian. For lunch, the Greyhound Tavern on Dixie Highway is a pretty good choice.

My wife really likes Karlo's, and she took me there for Valentine's and I was impressed as well.

Went to Ruby's downtown last night. Absolutely delicious, as always.
