Dez Bryant was asked if mom was a prostitute.

I find it interesting that this thread has gotten this much attention so quickly, but the Toby Gerhart one got all of 3 responses....:idunno:

Even if she was a prostitute, she would surely not be doing it anymore as she knew her son was going to sign a big contract. Why would it matter?

I never saw the thread on Gerhart.

I agree, is his mother going to be running routes and catching balls? If not it doesn't matter. Question's about his behaviour and past should be all they need to make a decision.

I never saw the thread on Gerhart.

It's about him being the poster-child for the "white professional running back."

I just dont get what job in this day and age can ask that? We live in a touchy, anal society now.

This got me thinking...

What if she was and Michael Ervin was known to keep the hookers in heels...

And now Bryant is wearing #88 and playing for Dallas...

Now that would be some irony...

Does his story involve prostitutes?

The first I heard of this was on Mike and Mike. They stated that Gerhart was asked if he thought that being a white RB made him feel 'entitled' in some way. I agree that was inappropriate, ... but to comment about someone's mother being a hooker could result in getting one's teeth relocated into one's throat. Bryant probably showed more restraint that I may have shown.

I am a die hard Cowboys fan, but that is funny.

Oh and btw, its Irvin. :thumb: :D

What was wrong w/ the question? They were possibly thinking of paying him a ton of guaranteed money. A QB who wasn't even indicted of a crime was suspended 6 games for "bad decisions". Bryant has made enough bad decisions in his life that he only played 2 games last year. If you're throwing money at an unproven kid wouldn't you want to know everything? Including what his mom does for work and how he might react if he's provoked?

Don't you think it crossed the line though? Everyone knows Dez had a rough home life and his mother has been in jail. Doesn't that say enough?

My thing is that prostitution is one of the lowest things a person can do in our society. Outside of committing murder or molesting a child, what other things can you do that are considered as bad as selling your body for money? And even if Dez's mom was a prostitute it has nothing to do with Dez. The trouble Dez got in with the NCAA was not bad trouble, he just lied about his contact with Deion Sanders because he was probably scared that he had committed a infraction.

And in asking Dez if his mother was a prostitute, they were pretty much accusing her of being so. There's nothing wrong with being thorough in their research about players, but my goodness draw the line somewhere. JMO.

Just as I am giving Dez the benefit of the doubt here, I will do the same for Ireland. We still do not know the entire context of the question. Say they were discussing his mom and Dez had said how she would flag down guys in the streets during her drug days, and the prostitution question was a follow-up to it, then it would make a little more sense. I still have a difficult time thinking he just asked this out of the blue. But I agree it was probably already known and he most likely took it too far.

Billick brought up a good point this morning in that you wonder if Arthur Blank and company would have asked more probing questions to Michael Vick before investing their franchise in him?

Another good point on Mike and Mike was brought up as well this morning. If you have a rookie wage scale, that eliminates a lot of this pre-draft interview silliness.

You and I have a very different view of prostitution. I think it should be legal. It may have gone too far, but if I was looking to spend as much money as he would have commanded in that spot I think I would have asked every question I could think of.
