SSC, I said that's how society views it so stop putting words into my mouth and yes you actually did read it wrong. I don't know what's so hard about this concept. Just because prostitution is legal in parts of Nevada does not mean that people there like it or prostitutes in general.

 

How many people are proud to pick up a hooker? How many of us would allow our children to go home with one of their friends if we knew the parent was selling her body for money on the side?

 

I'd be willing to guess that 95% of people find something they do not like about prostitution. Your argument is ridiculous man. Name me another job that is as socially unacceptable as prostitution. ONE JOB!!! You can't do it SSC, the majority of people in this society and in most other societies (both current and in the past) do not have a favorable view of them. It's all relative then isn't it. However research shows that you're wrong and the majority of Americans do not have a favorable opinion of prostitution. So people in 8 counties (It's legal in Clark County where Vegas is, but no brothels are allowed in Vegas FWIW) in Nevada allow it, and that proves your point? 8 counties out of hundreds nationally make your point for you? Huh? Take it or leave it SSC :idunno:.

 

And if we're going to be correct about it, Nevada law is very strict on prostitution laws, as it can only happen in the regulated brothels. Public opinion there is not favorable on brothels, the casino owners want it shut down (which is one of the reasons it's not in Vegas), and activist groups say the brothel owners are worse than street pimps. In fact a study shows that 80% of the 300 prostitutes they interviewed from these brothels want to leave the job because they are exploited and don't really make that much (outside of the big name ladies).

 

Even the prostitutes disagree...... But going on your theory if we're just going to say that Nevada agrees with it because it's legal there, then 2% of America believes prostitution is good. That's a ridiculous argument to make man.

I'm not even sure what you're arguing. Obviously most people are going to not look at it favorably. It doesn't mean that they would rank it right behind molesting a child or murder. I'd guess it's way down the hypothetical list that you are making up.

Bryant denies the following, but apparently the following exchange took place during the interview. If true, certainly explains the context of the situation and makes it pretty clear why THE question was asked.

I will return to the purpose of the thread, and say that I see both sides. I do think that perhaps the question could have been "What jobs did your mother do for your father" rather than straight up asking if she was a prostitute.

Seriously? Because Pimp's aren't exactly known to employee women in many other capacities. Maybe she was an accountant and helped him prepare tax returns for all the income he made Pimpin. I could see where he needed the help. Afterall, Pimpin ain't easy.

I'm pretty sure if the questions went the way they're described on here that would have been the next question asked by most people in the same setting. People who were up in arms at first seem to be backing off now. Also, it can't be stressed enough that Bryant made this public. This was over until he went to a media member.

I just don't think you come out and directly ask it that quick. Just one more question of "what exactly did she do?" would have been fine. If he gave the same response then ask.

 

Aren't many pimps involved in drugs as well? Maybe she was one of his drug runners, since she's been caught with them so many times. Heck maybe he had a day job or something? Like I said in that post, I could see both sides. I just think the tactful thing to do would to have been to let Bryant disclose it without directly asking, if possible.
