May 1, 201016 yr Reds win 3-2. ... From 7-11 to 12-11. Great win for the Reds. Cueto looked much better tonight in his 5 innings of work. A great job by the bullpen with 4 shutout winnings to preserve the win for the Cueto. Masset with a great job of getting out his jam in the 8th when the Cards had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. A strike out of Rasmus, an intensional walk of Molina, and then he gets Freese to ground into a 5-4-3. Every starter now has a win on this road trip, let's hope Homer can get his 1st win of the year tomorrow.
May 1, 201016 yr I really don't get why Dusty continues to run Masset out there. I know he got out of it unscathed, but another bad inning of work. :idunno: I agree with the earlier poster, had STL been winning, that game would've been called.

Because he has great stuff, he's just struggled with his command so far this year.
May 1, 201016 yr What was his other option? Coco was unavailable. CoCo actually pitched the 9th, and got the save, but Dusty certainly wasn't going to pitch him 2 innings.

Were the umps hoping the Cards would win? Once the game begins, isn't the game in the hands of the umps rather than the home club?
May 1, 201016 yr No one can ever make fun of the song Go Cubs Go again. Ever. Marty will... every chance he gets.

May 1, 201016 yr Author No one can ever make fun of the song Go Cubs Go again. Ever. I'm not sure what's worse, the song or the fact that there are people out there who actually like it

Who would you run out there in that situation, Ondrusek, Burton, Fisher? Oh darn, Ondrusek was sent down and Burton is hurt. That only leaves Fisher who was just called up. Massett has closer stuff and if you look at his stats over the second half of last year he was tremendous. His yearly stats weren't bad either. Imo he just needs some time to work things out. I could see Masset as the closer for the future if he can get the mental part pf the game figured out. W-L-ERA-APP IP H R ER HR HBP BB K 5 1 2.37 74 76.0 54 22 20 6 0 24 70
May 1, 201016 yr What Masset did last year has zero impact on what he's doing this year. He's been god-awful thus far, and was again last night. He caught a break with the DP to end the inning.
