May 2, 201016 yr You know we debate all the problems that this team has but bottom line is we have a manager who is an idiot and he has coaches that reflect his style of managing. The team has no direction and why should we expect anything out of the team. They don't do anything indicative of a team that has a leader that knows what he is doing.
May 2, 201016 yr Yup. I was yelling at the TV to walk him, while watching with my family. It was a full count, and I said walk him. PLEASE WALK HIM. They threw a pitch and he roped it down the left field line. WALK THE GUY! DO NOT LET HIM BEAT US...AGAIN Oh, geez. I just heard that not only was 1B open but there were also two outs. I'm not sure how many games managers win or lose during the season but this is one that Dusty would not use on his resume.
May 2, 201016 yr Lohse has 7 strikeouts this season in 4 starts. Tonight he struck out 8. The Reds might have a hot streak here and there this season but they'll struggle to hover around .500 if they continue to strike out at their current rate.
May 2, 201016 yr http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2010/05/01/baker-and-bailey-postgame/ Dusty says that they "got him out all day." Shouldn't that it make it more obvious to walk him? Take look at his career #'s against the Reds, in 145 games. .364 Avg., .442 OBP%, 48 2B, 42 HR & 122 RBI. If you can hold him to 0-2 with 2 BB's, that's a win.

And before people get on here & defend the decision by saying that you have to deal with Holliday if you walk Pujols...that's a no brainer. You simply do not pitch to Pujols. Holliday has had success against the Reds as well, hitting .329 with 4 HR & 20 RBI in 35 games. He's also struck out 31 times in 146 AB's. That's over 20% of the time. Worth noting: Pujols has only struck out 40 times in 550 AB's. Please quit pitching to him.
May 2, 201016 yr Albert seems to hammer the Reds every time I watch the two teams play. Last year there was a "Maysville night" at GABP; half-price tickets. We went and Albert hit a grand salami with the game on the line. Before he came to the plate, several of us were debating the merits of walking him to limit the damage to one run.

Albert usually hammers every team he plays against. There's really no way to stop him except to walk him. Walk him every time when there are runner in scoring position.
May 2, 201016 yr Author Cincinnati still has a chance at its first series victory in St. Louis since it swept a three-game set there from June 5-7, 2006. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview;_ylt=AvqdmVShSnqRezLTOXuqO5jbzYd4?gid=300502124
May 2, 201016 yr Drew Stubbs 8 Brandon Phillips 4 Joey Votto 3 Scott Rolen 5 Jay Bruce 9 Orlando Cabrera 6 Laynce Nix 7 Ryan Hanigan 2 Aaron Harang - 1
May 2, 201016 yr Harang hasn't pitched too bad today. Not great, but he pitched well enough so far to keep the team in it. He just hasn't gotten any help from the offense.
May 2, 201016 yr Pujols with a 3 run double. Cards up 6-0. Harang pitched well, looking at his stats. 6 IP, 7 Hits, 0 Walks, 6 K's & 3 runs. Not great, but solid. Another encouraging performance from Harang.
May 2, 201016 yr Carpenter has only started 15 games against the Reds, but at this point I'd rather face Oswalt than Carpenter....
May 2, 201016 yr Author Nothing wrong with a 4-2 road trip, just wish the Reds could have gotten 1 of these last 2 against the Cards.
May 2, 201016 yr Reds were dominated today by the superior team. They return home for a 3 game series against the Mets (and we miss Santana) and then a 3 game series with the Cubbies...
