April 30, 201016 yr Heisey is expected to be called up. John Fay keeps saying that he can hit lead off, but I don't understand why we continue to bring guys up and insert them into the leadoff spot. It sounds like Dickerson is headed to the DL (again). Ryan Hanigan has an OBP over .500... And will probably be on the bench tonight.:taz::irked:
April 30, 201016 yr My thoughts exactly. I read the headlines of that article yesterday and didn't even bother to click on it because it's not a problem. The only legitimate point that one might have is that Leake isn't used to the 162 game grind and could wear out by late July or so... One of the benefits of being the 5 man in the rotation with Leake is he will probably only make roughly 30 starts, if he stays healthy, compared to the normal 35-36 most starters get, so that should help keep him relatively fresh.
April 30, 201016 yr I read some concern over Mike Leake's pitch count so far this year in his four starts being over 400 already. Any concerns here from BGP Reds fans? . It is absolutely a concern.
April 30, 201016 yr It is absolutely a concern. What good starters are kept on under 100 pitch counts?
April 30, 201016 yr Let me restate my concern. Its not the pitch count/innings in a particular game. As a rookie who is one year removed from pitching once per week the Reds need to limit the number of games/innings he pitches throughout the season.

It doesn't matter. Leake had 47 career starts at ASU. He never broke 150 innings in one season and only threw 390 innings in 3 seasons. The concern about the # of innings throughout the whole season is legitimate; however, I'm not worried about the # of pitches that he's throwing as of right now.

May 1, 201016 yr Have a feeling this game gets called in STL had the lead going into the rain delay. It is back right?
