April 12, 201016 yr Some encouraging things in Week 1, some not so much. Nice outing by Leake to round out the week. Go Redlegs!
April 12, 201016 yr If I were a Reds fan, I would be excited about what I saw this week. I am very much!
April 12, 201016 yr Only one week in, the starting pitching has made it possible to stay in games but the bats have to be a concern.
April 12, 201016 yr Bruce's numbers look horrible but he hit a lot of balls hard and had some horrible luck this first week.
April 12, 201016 yr If I were a Reds fan, I would be excited about what I saw this week. Are you talking about the HD telecast? The pitching was pretty decent this week, but the hitting certainly didn't get anyone excited, unless you count the rest of the NL. I think the hitting will improve, but the pitching will obviously be the key to the Reds season.
April 12, 201016 yr Bruce's numbers look horrible but he hit a lot of balls hard and had some horrible luck this first week. He was stroking the ball. The hits will come if he continues to have swings like he had last week. All in all, I'm content with the first week. Pitching was solid and, while the offense struggled, it came up big in a few games. Also, you have to realize who the Reds faced. Carpenter, Wainwright & Penny have the ability to make any offense look bad, which is why the Cards are the favorites to win the division.
April 12, 201016 yr Between 4 games in Miami & 3 in Pittsburgh, the Reds are capable of putting together a nice road record before coming home to face the Dodgers.
April 12, 201016 yr Reds need to get the bats working and start hitting the ball. Hitting is going to be the key to this season.

The hitting can't get a lot worse. I really like the pitching staff. The bats HAVE to come alive...... I hope.
