Do we really think that the coaches ONLY use the tryout to determine who makes the team? That's asinine.

If we're the high school basketball state like we cling to (along with our guns and religion) why do we not expect to win or put our best team forth?

 

I am guessing it is the same thinking that everything needs to be equal throughout the state, and that everyone is entitled to be be GIVEN things, such as titles, districts, regional or state.

Maybe not the last two but its not hard to figure out what players are on the team already.

I think other factors come into play with the Scott County kids.

 

They don't finish school until June 13th so the practice time would require them to miss class the week before or during exams. Also, the second game is being held on the day they graduate!

 

I think that is plenty or reason not to go to take a spot when you may have to miss a game for graduation.

I wasn't aware of how many people are involved in the selection process. Each region's coach of the year gets invited to participate in forming the team. I believe about 11 or 12 of them showed up this year.

Last years Ky team lost by around 15 points both games. This Ky Class (which has been much hyped) I dont see doing as good. Next year they might be an even bigger gap!

Thats an awkward situation then. You shouldn't miss your high school graduation. Also, it wouldn't be right to make the team, play in the 1st game and then leave them shorthanded.

The graduation issue is legit. Prom,not so much. They could have tried out and still made the prom. Holmes boys did. Wasn't the tryout in central KY?

Just my opinion, but I don't think any of the kids invited to tryout owe it to me to show up, even if it's only because they would rather be at their prom, that's their initiative.

I stand corrected then. Tryouts were Friday and Saturday , correct? What time did the tryouts end?
