This can't be true. Our President said the uninsured were dieing in the streets and losing everything they had because of the current system. If the uninsured are using the ER for treatment then our President has been misleading me all this time. Right? This whole time I've been thinking the uninsured were not getting treatment. I also seen where one of the people BO used as an example of someone that couldn't get treated lived within 12 blocks of a FREE treatment hospital and had never been there to see if she could get help. No link to provide, I watched it last week on CNN I think.

Also, when was the last time you saw lines of indigent care people in the ER? In the last 2 years we have to had to go to the ER in Bowling Green, Lexington and Nicholasville. There was no sign of indigent care being a problem.

 

Lastly, I know someone that does not have insurance and they needed urgent treatment at the ER. It was done and the treatment was covered through a state program. This entire unconstitutional law was built completely on lies.

I am happy for the childern and elderly in this country that now will be insured.

 

It may not be the best bill, but at least it is a start. I am not a big fan of how it all went down. I don't agree with all parts of the bill. But at least the man had the courage to make something happen.

 

Both sides will always have studies and stats proving their points about what is right and what is wrong.

Because I don't have one. I do know that kids that I coach don't have health insurance, much less a meal to eat some nights. That isn't there fault.

 

Everyone will say it isn't there job to take care of everyone else. I don't disagree with you. But we are talking about Kids that can't help themselves.

Come to Martinsville, VA. This fall we were in the ER for my daughter's ankle and it was the height of the flu season. We waited 3 hours to get back to the ER and then another 2+ for treatment back there. Most all of the "patients" were obviously there for the flu and I overheard many conversations about just needing to get some meds and they'd be off. I saw others and knew their reason for being there was a lack of insurance.

 

I don't know that this bill is the solution but I've seen plenty of the problems RockMom is talking about. :thumb:

I'm really upset about this provision of the bill. I can't believe they are actually going to tax people going to a tanning salon. I guess I'll have to stop because I won't be able to afford it now! :irked: :sssh:

The government has no right to tell you that you have to buy anything. Totally unconstitutional. This idiotic bill by the Dems will be challenged in the courts.

Driving is a privilege, no body is telling you that you have to drive a car. Auto insurance requirements are to protect the "other guy". There is no "other guy" in the case of health care. Except for the tax payers who already foot 96% of the bill are going to be asked to come up with another 2 or 3 %.

Maybe but there is actually a doctor shortage. And many of the licensed doctors in the states are just researchers, they don't actually see patients. Offices or ER's, someone, is going to get busy fast.

Well, I can only speak from the experiences I've had in Louisville hospitals. And maybe that's where the perception that there's no lines, etc. Go to University Hospital on any given day, or Kosair Children's hospital. You'll see people waiting hours for care, whether they have insurance or not.

I bet that the people in the UK or France or Canada, would love to wait just "hours" for care...
