I will concede several of his points, but in my mind, I would have to break it down into whether you're talking about watching it on TV, or seeing it live.

NFL games live, are a snore. The TV timeouts and time spent in the huddle are indeed tedious. I'd rather watch it on TV with some friends, where you get the multiple angle replays, can get refreshments just about anytime you want to (without missing any of the action), and get video updates of all the other games going on at that time (not just scores on a scoreboard or over a PA system).

That being said, I find watching a baseball game on TV to be much worse than the live experience. Many times I'll even turn the sound down, put some tunes on, and be on the computer and just glance occasionally at the tv for the action. Much more interesting, IMO, to see a baseball game live.

So...on TV? NFL way ahead. But, in person? I do prefer MLB.

What say you BGP?

This brings up another debate, but I think the city would embrace the Reds doing good more so than the Bengals.

I do think that the city you are in plays a role. Pittsburg loves their Steelers and if you pose this question there, the answer would overwhelmingly be football, IMO. Ask this in New York- folks love baseball first and foremost, followed by basketball and then football comes in.

I love football and it is my fav, but I can see the arguement for live vs. tv that baseball is better live.

I can't see how baseball would compare to football in anyway. It is not even close to being America's past time. The last poll I seen that compares favorite sports was by USA today and it wasn't even close. Baseball came in 4th or 5th place.

I agree baseball games are more fun live than football games.

The only thing good about live football games is the tailgating before hand lol.

As a Bengal and partial Reds season ticket holder I have to disagree. I could barely sit through 7 innings last season. Four hour baseball games are brutal... I certainly like watching baseball but you can go 2-3 innings with no hits and when the pitchers start walking people it can get tough. Football/Hockey are my favorites to watch live. Baseball is more strategic and you have to appreciate that part of it.

Well, following a winner will always help the cause. Watching this year's Bengals was a whole lot more enjoyable than the year before, with Fitzpatrick at the helm. Likewise, watching the Reds of the late-80's, early 90's was a whole lot more enjoyable than the past couple of years.

But, comparing apples to apples, and oranges to oranges...take a situation where it's possibly early to mid-season, where hope springs eternal, and a firesale isn't in the making...then make your call. I still say NFL is waaay better on TV (outside of the tailgating issue) than in person. MLB, I prefer to be there myself.

NFL games live are a snore? Wow! I know that is opinion, but I don't see how you can say a NFL game live is boring, and a baseball game live is more exciting. Baseball for me by the 5th inning usually start to get kind of boring, because there is not much action in them. In football people seem much more into the game, and get excited a lot more than you see in baseball. I can understand someone saying they like baseball, because of thinking of the different strategies and situations and stuff like that. However when I think of something that is exciting, and just something you really can get loud and get behind it is football and its not even close, especially live.

Let me just say that I do love the NFL. Don't get me wrong on that. And there certainly are exceptions. But, overall, I just feel like I watch (and even enjoy) NFL games on TV that I would probably never feel like going to see in person. :idunno:

Whoever believes that NFL live games are a snore either doesnt like football or is a Lions fan. NFL games are way more exciting than baseball games. The crowd is into the game a lot more in football than in baseball.
