I hope this referee watches this replay and sees what he has done. When the putback is released the red light IS NOT on and the clock on top of the scoreboard reads either .2 or .3 seconds. The one thing I noticed and I understand all referees are different. Every referee that I have seen, when the red light/buzzer goes off they immediately start waving the shot off so it does not matter whether it goes in or not, you know it was after time ran out. This referee does not start waving until the shot goes in?

 

Just another case of "take care of business and do not put your fate in the hands of the referees!".

I would agree it is a shame that the game was decided at the end on a blown call. I can't believe that they missed this one. I know a blind man at the liquor store that would have got this right.

 

But on the other hand FCHS should have never been in the position to allow the officials to make this mistake. Felt like they played flat until the 2:32 mark in the 3rd quarter, then they picked it up. Played their hearts out to come back to have a chance to win. Point I trying to make is, everyone remembers the last play, but what about those plays in the first half FCHS should have made.

 

 

Hats off to the seniors they played hard and should be playing on Saturday. It is a shame the call was blown.

 

I agree, if you let officials decide the game then chances are your gonna be on the way home to clean out your locker.

It was obviously a very bad call. The putback shot was off well before the buzzer/light went off.

Can't disagree with the bold, but they did get in that position, came back and won the game. The thing is this call was not a

"phantom foul call", not a charge/block call, it was not a "judgement call" that could have gone either way. The technology was in place to help make sure the buzzer shot gets called right. It was blown.

 

We will see ifthe KHSAA is a

performanced based organization. If the ref that made the call, refs games at the Sweet 16, then they are not. It will prove that the KHSAA is not about accountability, they are a "good ole boy organization".

Wow. The ref just choked. I'd say this one will be sent to the KHSAA office for review in support of replay being allowed in high school basketball games when available.

I don't think they can overturn the result of the game. They will have to admit that it was a bad call and say 'sorry', but that is no consolation to Franklin County.

Wow! That is unbelievable. What a rip off. I have no words for it. I feel so bad for the kids at FCHS.

I was really surprised by the line score:

They really needed someone else to step up and get some buckets in the 4th other than Hall and Samples.

Wow! What was the offical looking at. You can clearly see the light come on way after the kid releases the ball. That was a bad call and only thing the school will hear is sorry the ref made a bad call. I feel so sorry for these young who played that hard and to lose that way.:cry:

I wasn't at the game, but I am wondering if the officials ran straight off the court or did they discuss it. It looks from the video like they ran straight off, but you would think that situation at least warrants a conversation to see what they all saw, not just that one official.
