Coach Warfield out at Conner

Featured Replies

I have been out of town and just found out about Coach Warfield, I don't know any of the details of her dismissal. I do know she and her staff took over a Team that was in total disarray and heading in the wrong direction. She has built the Cougars program into a very respectable program, competing every year for the district. She actually took this team to the sweet 16, 2 years ago. I have heard that 2 board members did not like the way she coached; if yelling at a girl to hustle down the floor, to box out or to run the play is wrong, what is the future for our coaches and high school sports? All she has done is to try and get her girls to execute what they practice. I am very disappointed that the AD and principle did not stick up for a coach that has put her heart and soul into the Conner program.

I will say this one more time ... as respectfully and as neutral as possible. The AD has nothing to do with hiring/firing decisions. The PRINCIPAL has 100% complete control of hiring/firing in his/her school.

And in direct regard to this post ... I doubt whether you actually know what the AD or the principal did (unless you are Coach Warfield).

I have a great deal of "personal" experience with the AD/Principal in question ... and they have both always been more than fair. I doubt that they deserve to be blasted here anymore than Coach Warfield does ...

Everyone needs to look at this post ... and see that things have been extremely HUSH HUSH ... from every angle. Think about that for a second. A few have tried to play the parent card .... but overall ... not as many as normal. I have no insight into this situation ... but until the REAL story comes out ... it would probably be best to leave the speculation in your own head.

Where?

Highlands has to lead that list. NCC, Holmes a couple of seasons ago. NDA has 1 title in what the last 2 decades. Holy Cross had above average talent a couple of seasons ago. I'd say that year in and year out the 9th's top 4 or 5 teams are pretty equal. The year Conner won the region, I do not believe they were considered the favorite to do so. Hard to think coaching has nothing to do with it.

I've seen the AD at the girls games, but haven't seen the principal there this year.

Which means what exactly?

It's tough to know what's going on when you aren't involved...

Ha, ha .... I don't think it is as tough as you mention.

I think that most people who have coached in high school realize that there are a lot of things that could go on where the principal has a really good idea of what is going on ... whether he is at the games or not. (And again--very clear--I have NO CLUE what happened here).

Now ... again ... to keep this neutral ... after looking at a recent contract ... I will say this ... it gives the principal exclusive right to fire/terminate without cause with a 10 day warning.

Again--I don't think that there is any reason to speculate what the AD/Principal/Coach had/have going on until one of them speaks formally.

Wow, malachicrunch you love to take those shots at HHS,:deadhorse:

Is basketball at St. Louis that bad that you are still worrying about high

school girls basketball in NKY? Time to move on big fellow like most

"adults" do when their child graduates and moves on. Seriously, you want to pop off at a coach who is obviously going through a tough time. NO CLASS!

If ya only knew...pal!

Been around this thing for a while and still have a vested interest for a little while longer...I venture to guess not everyone on here has a child actively playing on a team; however, I may be wrong so feel free to correct me. Last time I checked, big fellow...adult..., I wasn't required to have an active player when BGP's accepted my payment.

I actually give quite a bit of credit to Kim for my Daughter's career...

I'm not sure that stating a fact is a shot. Highlands had a ton of talent the last couple of seasons. The did not win a regional title. Is that a shot? My point was that Coach Warfield undoubtedly had a hand in Conner's title a couple of seasons ago, in response to a post that suggested talent was the sole reason for their success. More of a defense of Coach Warfield than an idictment towards the HHS program.

I'm not sure Ludlow would like to see that but Coach Stamm would be a good one.

Stamm has done an excellent job at Ludlow and would be an excellent choice for the Conner job if he is interested. He is a very solid Xs and Os guy and the girls respond to him and enjoy playing for him. From what I am told he has done a good job of fundraising at Ludlow and has the support of the parents as well. Not sure what else Stamm can achieve at Ludlow but he is a Ludlow alum so I am sure it would take the right job for him to leave. In my opinion Conner would be one of the those jobs that just might peak his interest.

Ton of talent, I'm not around the program that much. Who in the last two years played and went on to play in college for HHS any D1 players or D2 players? I agree coach Warfield did a great job, only coach i can remember over the last 10 years who didn't have a D1 player and won the region. (sign with D1 not mom and dad my kid is D1).

Check the preview threads. 08-09 girls 9th region, The Scribe used the term "plethora of talent" (plethora means a lot) in describing the Birds at a preseason #1. Katie Allen and Bekah Towles both on the list for top seniors this season. I'm not sure where they wind up at the next level, but they were very talented players.

I agree, I can not believe how parents who's kids graduated just hang on to BGP's..........................wait a minute. That's me!

Just trying to lighten it up a bit, if you know what I mean.

paNDA,

You're killing me.

Good Luck Coach Warfeild, you did a great job!
