Coach Warfield out at Conner

Featured Replies

Keep in mind that being a "great" player doesn't translate into being a great or even a good coach.

Also, let's talk in generalities and not in respect to the situation at Conner, but sometimes it could be necessary for parents (or players) or others close to the program to speak up, true? What if the administration doesn't know what goes on at games, at practice or in the locker room? What if a coach isn't doing what he/she is supposed to be doing or has lost interest, should the parents just sit tight and let it happen?

Again, I'm not saying this is or isn't the situation at Conner, but everyone is jumping on parents for doing what they believe is the best interest of their children. There is a good way to voice concern and a bad way...

I wonder if he did not play a player whos father was a member of the school board if he would have been fired? That is what happened to her.

Knowing Bill like I do I can assure you NOBODY would have "blackmailed" him into playing someone he didn't think deserved to play.

In Kim's case, how sad is it that a board member has that much power. You think teachers might think twice about giving a Board member's kid a grade of D on a test? You can bet it crosses their mind. Sad, sad, sad. Shame on the Conner administration if this truly is the reason.

Maybe, but not nearly to the extent they are today. Ask Kim's dad if he lost his job because of them. I firmly believe administrations don't support coaches, or teachers for that matter, like they did in the "Good Old Days".

So maybe the parents are the same but administration has changed??

They would have had to deal with his stick.

Good Luck to Coach Warfield she had a very recent 9th region title which makes it hard for me to believe that she would be replaced.

Anyone know what she teaches? If she teaches science, math, or special ed. it will be easy for her to find another teaching and coaching job.

She teaches special ed.

I have been out of town and just found out about Coach Warfield, I don't know any of the details of her dismissal. I do know she and her staff took over a Team that was in total disarray and heading in the wrong direction. She has built the Cougars program into a very respectable program, competing every year for the district. She actually took this team to the sweet 16, 2 years ago. I have heard that 2 board members did not like the way she coached; if yelling at a girl to hustle down the floor, to box out or to run the play is wrong, what is the future for our coaches and high school sports? All she has done is to try and get her girls to execute what they practice. I am very disappointed that the AD and principle did not stick up for a coach that has put her heart and soul into the Conner program.

Guys sometimes there is no story or drama. The schools can simply choose not to renew a one year contract. Maybe it was a mutual thing or maybe there was a legitimate reason.

Lets throw some names out there.

Stamm from Ludlow would be a good fit.

I'd like to see what Bramlage from newport could do if he has some talent, he is a Special Ed teacher as well.

How about the old NCC coach McDonald

Are there any assistants at Ryle, Cooper, or Boone that may have a chance?

Preachit. we are not listening to anyone in this area who does not know who Michelle Cotrell is.:

I am humbled and will surrender.

Was she a great coach OR was there a lot of senior leadership and talent on a couple of those teams?

As far as being fired, let go , or whatever...sometimes what goes around comes around!

Talent powers the bus, but a coach steers. Plenty of talent at a lot of schools in NKY with no hardware to show for it.

Is basketball at St. Louis that bad that you are still worrying about high

school girls basketball in NKY? Time to move on big fellow like most

"adults" do when their child graduates and moves on. Seriously, you want to pop off at a coach who is obviously going through a tough time. NO CLASS!
