Coach Warfield out at Conner

Featured Replies

I believe that the rule saying that a head coach has to be a teacher is no longer in effect as of a month or so ago.

I also feel like Conner isn't married to the idea of having a teacher in the building either.

The last head coach wasn't a teacher in the building ... so I doubt that it matters that much.

I think that this one gets really interesting. I think that it will be a super surprising name that no one is thinking about right now.

Actually, now that you mention it ... the last 3 were not.

Funny how time flies ....

But Warfield was a certified teacher. Just noti nthe building. correct? I am almost sure she taught at the alternative school or something.

She is/was at the Middle school and Shannon is/was at Burlington Elem...

I have a buddy who teaches at Conner and says they are interviewing THE ONE Monday and it is a SHE

I have a buddy that tells me a certain current NKY coach will be interviewed tomorrow and it is a HE!

Your buddy is wrong. (Sorry for being so blunt)

All of the interviews are today ... there are a few "She's" and "He's" that will get their shot today.

Overall ... should be interesting.

I have a feeling that the Conner faithful will not walk away feeling good about the prospects (even if they turn out to be good)

Will they have legitimate concerns or are you saying its just the typical "fans know more" situation?

The honest truth is that I have no idea on whether the concerns would be legitimate.

It seems like (lately) when it comes to Conner basketball (girls or boys) the fans/outsiders in the program seem to have more impact on the decision making process than anyone else. And with this group of potential hires--I got the impression that a lot of good prospects felt like they didn't want to bother with this situation.

To provide a little more thought ... I think that the "fans" need to think about only the fact that only one person with high school head coaching experience is in the interview pool. That isn't to say that the others are not good options ... but this should be a pretty good job for someone who knows their way around a gym. The program is established, not far away from a regional championship and has some solid players in the pipeline.

I couldn't even begin to speculate on who gets this job .... I am sure that the administration will pick the best option. I just hope that person gets a fair shot from the "fans".

Interesting point about only one candidate that has HC experience. You would think it would be an "in-demand" job.

What's with the boys program Quick Silver? How has the fans/outsiders have an impact on decision making there?

Is it unusual to have a parent of a player on the panel? It seems odd to me and it would seem to put the coach in a weird position.

No clue who "Quick Silver" is .... but I assume that you mean me.

If you are even an "observer" of the program ... you should know the answer to this.

And let me be very clear--I am not saying it is good/bad/indifferent.

But ... if you look at the girls program--then look at the boys ... I think that you will find the answer.
