Unemployment...

Featured Replies

I had a quarterly review with a customer yesterday and we got to talking about their workforce and the economy. He said they are having a very hard time keeping anyone because people can draw almost as much unemployment as they can working. On top of that you have extension after extension it seems there is no incentive to get a job. I am starting to think if they cap the amount of time you draw and quit with the extensions you may see the unemployment number start to come down.

This is what big government creates, lazy people that want money for nothing.

They are in illinois. I believe the unemployment max there is about $450 or so. Although that isn't going to make you rich it's still about $11 per hour. I want to say my customer pays around $12.

What isn't true?

Take everyone that is receiving currently and cut them off. Watch what happens to our economy. You think it's bad now, you ain't seen nothin' yet. I see the dollars given as keeping the economy afloat until things get back to 4-5% levels. There have many articles written on this very topic.

What isn't true?

What seemed to be implied was that people would not enter the job market because they make more on unemployment. That is only true if they are trying to enter at a much lower salary rate in a job for which they are overqualified.

I come into contact with about 90% of people that draw unemployment through my job and the difference amongst the majority of them and for instance myself who would be paranoid every month if I didn't have job because of security, etc is that they live month for month and do not see the future, whereas myself and I fell most level headed people would be concerned they weren't working and would want to be employed soon just because of not knowing whether or not your wages would end.

What was the stat I saw the other day 6 applicants for every position? I am sure some scam the system but we need more jobs.

Wrong, come up here sometime and I'll take you on a tour of a few areas where people just want to sit on their rear and collect unemployment. You'll also notice they're living in Section 8 Housing.
