Mountain boy, Coldiron, pulls off the upset! Congrats Lafayette although I don't think it is as big as upset as some might think. The Generals are really good.

Agreed. This might have been more of a "name surprise" than an upset. I think you guys know what I mean. Anytime Catholic goes out early its a little bit of a surprise.

Lafayette's boys' basketball team did something Tuesday night that hadn't been done in almost a quarter of a century.

The Generals kept Lexington Catholic from reaching the boys' region tournament for the first time since 1986 by beating the No. 6 Knights 62-56 in the 43rd District semifinals at Tates Creek.

Why did Lexington Catholic not feed the ball on every possession to their 6'8" center, Tanner Peurach?

 

I am aware he had to sit due to foul trouble, but he had a total mismatch, being guarded by the 6'7" eighth grader and 5'10" Eric Shaw, Jr. yet he rarely touched the basketball?????

 

It was disappointing to see Lexington Catholic made no adjustments. Lafayette played hard and overcame 19 turnovers. Big win for the very athletic Generals.

 

I love Dominique Haggins' game! Big time talent.

Lex Cath's center pretty much had his way with the Davis kid(8th grader). Davis just wasnt big enough physically or experienced enough to handle him. On the other hand when Lafayette inserted Shaw in his place it was a different story.

 

Shaw is only 5'10" but he is built like a brick wall. Looked like to me that the center for Lex Cath didnt like the physical play of Shaw. Shaw was pushing him out of the lane everytime he tried to post up, was bumping and running with him everytime he tried to run off of a screen and was all together on him like paper on a wall. There were several times where Shaw beat the Lex Cath kid to the spot where he was trying to get. Seemed like to me that Shaw really had him frustrated and Lex Cath didnt seem to know how to operate without him being able to get the ball?

 

Great win for Lafayette in a great game to witness!!!

Wasn't real sure of the time out strategy or any strategy by the Knights. How many times do you continue to chase Lafayette to the basket? Strange happenings indeed

Shocker but congrats to the Generals for knocking off the LC.

This is not a shocker!!!!! Lafayette has a very good team. They were given very little consideration at the beginning of the season by the

ranking gurus. I felt differently as they finished last season very strong. They obviously handled the 2-2-1 very well. Congratulations to Lafayette!!! They may make some noise in region.

Sorry !!!! But IMO it is.

 

Obviously LC didnt take advantage of a 9 inch difference with their big center and the 5'10 Lafayette kid.

 

I dont follow the 11th like you though so as an outsider looking in this is more surprising to me then you. It is what it is. :thumb:
