I knew Chris when he was a 7th grader on my brother's FTJFL team. He is a great guy, and Male is getting a top-notch coach. :thumb:

One positive spin on this is Coach Wolfe is not "leaving kids" from a past team.

 

I still hear folks knocking Coach Saban for leaving the kids at Miami.

 

They have already called a meeting to meet the new coach, I'll miss it. its on a Church nite.

 

Like to know who has "applied" to help him?

 

I love the wing T/wishbone, but if he has a 6'4" rifle throwing QB I'm sure he will make a few plays for him. My kid is 5'2" but is 12. :popcorn:

He did have Travis Atwell in the late 90's at Hancock County, and they went to the spread when it was the cool thing to do (Mumme Ball). I'm sure he'll do what needs to be done to be productive at Male.

Yep, reception for him is tomorrow. I'll be there, so I'll let you know how it goes. I hear everyone is pretty excited!

That was Mark Peach. Wolfe might have been an assitant, not for sure? Peach was the head coach, though.

 

I wouldn't exactly call what Hancock did, "Mumme Ball". They spread it around a bit, but Atwell was a lot like the kid from Ft. Campbell (and vice versa). Atwell rushed for almost 2,500 yards and also passed for about that same amount during the '99 season. He won Mr. Football that year.

 

"Mumme ball" is what I would refer too when you have a team that chucks it 50+ times a game, and cant run the ball with any effienciency to save their lives, puting up 30+ points a game, big stats, while at the same time giving up 40+ night in, night out. :jump::lol::laugh:

According to the KHSAA web site, coach Wolfe was the head coach at Hancock County in 98 and went to Waggener in 99. Mark Peach took Atwell and Hancock County to the state finals in 99. Coach Wolfe's overall record is 72-45 from 1998 to 2007 ,his last year to coach. His playoff record during that 10 year time was 8 wins and 9 losses.He lost in the 1st round 4 times, won the region in 2000,and didn't make the playoffs in 2001.

Jim, I think Male is in the top three or four nation wide in total wins. But I agree the ND thing kinda of threw me, now if the poster used another college team it would have more sense. Guess which one? :idunno:

I think everyone was a bit thrown by that comment. A friend of mine asked him why the ND comment? He said "because of the tradition & being the oldest football program in KY." Also, he coached Hancock Co. '96-'98, which were Travis Atwell's Freshman-Jr. seasons. Mark Peach became head coach when Wolfe left.

Help me out, when was the last time the wing-t won a State Championship? Just wondering? It could be this past year, I can't remember.

It doesn't matter if he runs the "Chicken Wing" It comes down to kids making plays.

Russell won the AA title in '05. DeSales was the AA runners up this year. Two of Georgia's perinnial powerhouse programs, Lownded And Cambden Counties are full fledged Wing-T teams.

 

I agree with another poster, with all of the athletes at Male, or Kentucky's version of "The U" as I like to call it, the offense could be deadly.
