The AP rankings have struggled to even get enough votes to form a rankings. The initial ranking was well late due to the fact that it only had 2 or 3 votes turned in this year. Not sure why the disinterest in just turning a simple vote card in.

 

Probably because when the folks who have a vote map out their busy week, voting in a poll that most people recognize as invalid is pretty low on the priority scale.

Another useless ranking system. Just something to keep somebody busy compiling.

Seneca has lost 3 of last five (not 4 out of five).. Those three are at Trinity, At J-Town (overtime) and a hot Manual team. Seneca is still a legitimate threat to beat Trinity. If PTB wants his precious Manual team at Rupp, he better hope somebody beats Trinity...

My mistake forgot the Moore game. Seneca lost 4 of last 6.

Whatever method the Litkenhous uses to determine their rankings are flawed if you consider how they have Trinity ranked. They have won the 3 biggest tournaments in the state during the season but are rated 6th. I'm glad the college game doesn't use Litkenhous, Texas would still be number 1.

LIT Ratings are a complete joke. :idunno:

That has everything do with strength of schedule and just being in the 7th region playing 7th region teams. It doesn't matter how many losses in their case, the system gives them credit just for playing the games.

The 10th-rated team in the 7th Region (St. X) would be the top-rated team in 7 of the other 15 regions. Is this legit? Is it a credit to the 7th or a sad commentary on the state of basketball statewide? I personally feel that Dr. Lit gets pretty accurate as the season draws to a close.

AP is probably the worst of the bunch.

Thats my problem with it. Too much Credit for schedule and not enough deduction for losing. If strength of schedule is big then every school in the 7th ratings are higher including the lower teams. Until the LIT ratings comes out and fully explains their system no one will like them. I dont care how tough your schedule is losing 12 games and a losing record should not get you a top 20 ranking.

I guess I have not been around Kentucky HS basketball long enough to comment on their rankings, but I can tell you that the state championship team I was involved with in Ohio was never ranked during the entire season and never in the others receiving votes or others to watch and finished the season 23-4. Those rankings like the tournament were in a class system. I agree that rankings mean absolutely nothing.
