January 3, 201016 yr [/b] So does the 9 measly points tell us that UL is better than advertised or the U OF K is not as good as advertised? [/b] Did you ever meet Laetner? Apparently not nor did any of you know Laetner? Difference is..... One happend to U of K and one was implemented by U OF K. Why? Have you? How did that Bub light as you put it go? Your post on here have made this a lot of fun. Should Cousins got so physical? No. Did he deserve the T? Sure. Was it a terrible game called by the refs? Yes. Sosa should have gotten T'd up right at the start too. Probably Bledsoe too, even though Cal took him out asap and Pitino didn't, and should have taken Sosa out.Look the best team won even though offensively they played their worst game of the year. Miller and Dodson have to hit some shots for UK to win it all and I think Liggins should have played even more Sat. Good win anyway. Good luck the rest of the way.:thumb:
January 3, 201016 yr Really classy :ohbrother:, I support UK bball as much as anyone on here but I also coach sports. Cousins is looking for a fight almost everytime he is on the court. Anyone who doesn't have blue sunglasses knows that. He has to learn to control his emotions. The elbow was dirty. I want us to win just as much as anyone else but he has to grow up. Why does no one speak of the knee he took to the side of the head BEFORE he threw the elbow. I don't think the knee was intentional but it would make anyone throw the elbow.
January 3, 201016 yr So is swopshire a punk for putting a knee in his face?:idunno: I just know we got the W!!:dancingpa Glad someone else saw the knee.....:thumb:
January 3, 201016 yr First of all I am very happy with the "W" over U.L.. I am concerned about the problems that we had with the zone, that will have to improve. I noticed Captain Kellog:D on the t.v. analogy kept saying that U.L. needed to get into a running game. I am not sure thats what they (or anyone else) would want vs. U.K.. J. Wall, Cousins, Patterson, Bledsoe, Miller and company imo would and have loved to get into an up and down/open court game. U.L. had no one to match up with Wall, especially in the open court. I thought U.L. had a good game plan in going zone, it bothered U.K.. They (U.L.) imo were out manned at every position and they had a very good game plan against a better team. About all the "extra" stuff.....I believe the officials handled the scuffle at the first of the game o.k., alot of the CBS self proclaimed elite:rolleyes: were calling for Cousins to be ejected. I believe that although Cousins elbow/forearm was deserving of the "T" if he was ejected then you would have had to boot Delk (came flying in to shove a player) and Swopshire for the knee to Cousins that was also obvious. I believe that it was after that the officials allowed way too much "slapping, jabbing" and the like, especially out of Delk and Swopshire, jmo. U.K. players were in on it as well but to me anyway it was obvious that U.L. was trying to instigate/get into U.K. players heads with some of that stuff. I am not blaming U.L. or U.K., just was he way I saw it. Cousins was and is a beast on the boards, he was huge yesterday. Patterson was his steady self and Wall continues to play not only great (which is obvious) but to be a leader on this team along with Patterson. Both Patterson and Wall were in on Cousins and Bledsoe at the first of the game trying to get their heads on straight and not let all of the "extra" junk get to them and to just play basketball. That is leadersdhip. Again....any win is a good win for "The Commonwealth's Team" and any win over U.L. and Pitino is a great win. Now comes the real season in the SEC. 15-0 and ready to go!!! U.L. has a good team and imo they will be fine, I look for them to improve as the season goes on. Envy Our Past, Fear Our Future!! GO BIG BLUE!!! Edited January 3, 201016 yr by oldrambler
January 3, 201016 yr Early in 2010 and RockMom takes another hit. Cousins is from Alabama and I know some stuff about him, but we all were young and need a chance to grow and he will. I'm an ex Ref and he should have not got thrown out. Refs should have stopped the game and call over the Head Coaches and tell them to control their players or they are gonna watch the game in the locker room. Maybe they did but I didn't see it on TV. The Cousins stuff isn't really bad, just has some control issues that you saw today. And he had to miss some games for his lack of this control. Bama comes to Rupp early February. I don't really have a problem with him not being thrown out, BUT they added the review to the rules this year, so that they could review blatant elbows....and that one was as blatant as they come....Swop's lip had a grape in it shortly thereafter.....
January 3, 201016 yr Glad someone else saw the knee.....:thumb: :thumb: I definately saw it as well. This one is over now so I am going enjoy the "W" and get ready to move on with the SEC portion of the schedule.
January 3, 201016 yr I guess I am also a punk according to deuce because I get ticked off when I get a knee to the face also. Bottom line is this was a hot contest from the beginning. It all started when one of your genius former players wrote John Wall sucks on a t-shirt he autographed. No pre game handshakes from the UL guys is pretty classy also. Shoving in the tunnel and the Bledsoe/Delk jawing set up the incident with Cuz and Swop. Cuz takes a knee to the face, shoves a forearm at Swop, technicals all around, correct calls made, no fistfight, game goes on. You guys calling Cuz a punk and a thug have obviously never met the guy in person either. Just watch the video of him interviewing all the people on the streets of New York. You'll see the real big Cuz. Now, I am not the Cardinal fan you think I am here. Secondly DeMarcus Cousins interviewing other people, with a camera on, is hardly the real thing either. Him on the basketball court, in the heat of the moment is the real thing.
January 3, 201016 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you always said that you felt that Laettner didn't deserve to be ejected in the 1992 Duke-Kentucky game? I did say that.....I also don't necessarily care...but a hard elbow to the face, and a baby stomp to the stomach are two completely different things. Now, my memory is super fresh on this, but did the refs in the Duke game have the replays at their disposal? Not sure.
January 3, 201016 yr It's a contact sport folks, the knee and the elbow/forearm (depending on how one wants to see it) in a heated match-up sometimes is part of the game. Both sides, let it go and move on. What I saw was two great teams with two great coaches playing hard to win.
January 3, 201016 yr I don't really have a problem with him not being thrown out, BUT they added the review to the rules this year, so that they could review blatant elbows....and that one was as blatant as they come....Swop's lip had a grape in it shortly thereafter..... I hope that you are not saying the U.L. players were "innocent victims" or anything :ohbrother::lol:. I guess blatant knees (from Swoopshire) and face slaps (from Delk) are o.k..:idunno: This game was another one in an intense rivalry and it's over for another year :walk: (unless the two meet on the NCAA tourney)
January 3, 201016 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you always said that you felt that Laettner didn't deserve to be ejected in the 1992 Duke-Kentucky game? Exactly..........:thumb:

Right, because we ALL are thinking more clearly and rationally in a heated basketball game when we take a knee to the face. My goodness...
January 3, 201016 yr Right, because we ALL are thinking more clearly and rationally in a heated basketball game when we take a knee to the face. My goodness... After just watching it about 7 times, I am not even sure that Swop's knee made contact with Cousins' head....the opposite can't be argued.

There was clearly no elbow....none whatsoever. A forearm shove at the worst. Not sure their was a knee there either. Sosa could have been given a T because he came in and shoved Delk and in one angle almost looks like he shoved Cousins as well. That skirmish was minor when you watch video of the UC/XU game. Rivalry games, it happens. How about the Ville outside their lockerroom chanting "We are bad (insert mom and versatile word)" over and over? Edited January 3, 201016 yr by letabrotherspeak
