Need advice from parents about Santa Claus

Shoot...just tell her the truth...There ain't no Santa...

Or...Barbie wouldn't be able to stand up if she were real, her back would hurt, her feet would be more deformed than a ballerina's and .....therefore...on moral grounds, Santa will not perpetuate the false perception that girls get when they aspire to be Barbie...therefore.....no house. :D

Two questions, would she have received the Barbie House if you would have found one? Would you still get her one if you found one? If so, have a letter or card there from Santa, explaining since he did not know until late that the elves did have time to get in done in time to put it on his sleigh, and that he will have it delivered in the future. Or the letter can say if she is good until then, that he will have it delivered to her for her birthday.

We would have gotten it for her had we known sooner. If I found one today I would have returned some of the other things we bought and got it. I like the touch you and some others have added about being good and getting it for her birthday.

I've got a soon to be 4 year old, and we've told her that Santa doesn't always bring what she asks for. We've told her this over and over and over and over again these past couple weeks. We don't want her to get the impression that she will get whatever she asks for. Plus, we've told her whatever Santa doesn't bring, she could ask for it for her birthday if she really wants it since it's only a month later.

Here's a used Barbie house on eBay for $36 right now. Ends in 8 hours.

Also, I could have sworn that Kohl's had these things last week when I was in there.

I don't have kids, but the way my parents avoided situations like these were to make us write and "send" a letter to Santa listing the things we wanted. If we later wanted something before Christmas, my parents would just say, "If it wasn't on the list, then Santa doesn't know to bring it to you."

We would then be told that we could ask for it next year or for our birthdays if we still wanted it.

Wow! That is funny stuff!:lol::lol:

I was one of those parents who always had to have the hard to get items for her kids. I was at stores early, regardless of the weather and would not have given a second thought to plowing over a slower, less healthy competetor! I almost snatched a white Power Ranger out of the cart of an unsuspecting, distracted shopper (didnt do it though!) I overspent on e-bay, put the word out to friends for help....you name it, I did it.....and my children always got "that one gift" they wanted.

I know this is the part where I am supposed to say I regret that now, but I DONT! I dont miss it, but I dont regret it either. The honest thing is, except for the video game systems, I found that I usually wanted certain things for them more than they wanted it!

That being said, RELAX! She likely wont remember her 4th Christmas anyway. I also like the idea of a letter from Santa promising her a Barbie Doll house for her birthday. I would also add that....instead, I brought you these more wonderful gifts!

When I was little, I wanted a Chatty Cathy more than anything in the world (tells you how old I am). Didnt get it, but I got lots of other great things and I do not remember being disappointed at all.

Four is such an awesome year, enjoy it! I guarantee she will love her Christmas no matter what!

You never know she might forget about it when she sees all the other stuff Santa brought her. Don't get to worked up about it you will stress yourself out. If she asks just get it for her on her birthday.Merry Christmas and i hope it works out for you.

Do you still plan on getting it for her once they are back in stock?

If so, I may consider writing some sort of letter explaining how Santa had got it for her, but left it back at the North Pole on accident, and would bring it as soon as possible. That way, she'd be really surprised when it did arrive.

Or if you aren't planning on getting it, you could just tell her that Santa is really busy and unfortunately isn't always able to give everyone everything they want all the time. :idunno:

UKMF that sounds like a really good idea man. I'll have to remember that one for a rainy day.:thumb:

This is just an example of one of the many reasons that we don't do the whole Santa Claus thing.

Wow, you really are Scrooge!

Just get her something else that's just as cool and tell her that she needs to write her letter to Santa earlier next year.

Or, just tell her that Santa doesn't always give the kids what they want.

A sheet of 3/8" plywood, a saw and some paint and you can make her a really cool doll house that will fit Barbies in a day. Did it when I was in graduate school and Santa couldn't afford the plastic one.

As a daughter, the things that my dad have made for me have been the gifts that I cherish the most. :thumb:

I was leaning towards the "Santa doesn't bring your every thing you want" route. We will probably get it for her birthday, I just hope she isn't disappointed with Christmas because of it. 4 year old girls can be a bit a irrational in case anyone didn't know.

That isn't limited to 4 year old girls...
