Out of curiosity, who knows where Austin Collinsworth would have gone had the Notre Dame offer not come?

I was over BK 2 days after he left, but this came up at the site I work for on another kid and was just curious. It seems to have made ND back off that kid, but I doubt UC would make a fuss over Collinsworth considering he wasn't going to UC even if BK was here for life...

 

This probably was well discussed in another thread, but I really didn't understand all the negativity by UC fans about Kelly leaving. I can understand being very disappointed at losing him. But I didn't get why people felt like he did something wrong. I liken it a little to Pitino leaving UK for the Celtics. Sure, I wanted him to stay at UK but I couldn't fault him at all for leaving. Same with Kelly to ND. Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic here.

Actually, the only teams mentioned with Collinsworth were the ones that offered. I'm sure there were many many others that inquired. Don't know who they were but I am sure the list was long.

What if AC made an outreach to ND and made sure they got tapes on him? Does it matter if it was during the new BK era or prior? You cant penalize a kid for wanting to go to a school just because he was recruited by the new coach at a prior school. Those contracts are built to protect the schools but does anyone ever think about the kids who are involved and maybe there choices?

d. Resignation or Termination by Coach

 

Coach recognizes that his promise to work for the University for the entire Term is an essential consideration in the University's decision to employ him as Head Football Coach. Coach also recognizes that the University is making a highly valuable investment in his continued employment by entering into this Agreement and its investment would be diminished were he to resign or otherwise terminate his employment as Head Football Coach with the University prior to the expiration of the Term. Subject to the provisions of Section 6 of this Agreement, the parties agree that Coach may, nevertheless, resign or otherwise terminate his employment under this Agreement prior to the expiration of the Term by giving written notice to the University. Austin Collinsworth was the only player in the room, so I don't know if he was interested in any other players.

Is it me or does it seem odd for a head coach to visit players that are already commited to his program one week before national signing day ? I would think the head coach would be more interested in getting the best recruits that are not commited yet , to join the ND program.

 

I'm not a coach , and coach BK absolutely is one of the best coaches in college football today , so I'll just say in closing that the visits from coach BK made the day special for the two deserving recruits of Collinsworth and Nichols . Congrats again , you represent KY well !!!!

Its not not uncommon for a coach to come in this late in the game on a visit. They want to secure all of the committs they have. The other college coaches will continue to try and steal a recruit right up until signing day. Its a pretty cut throat business. If the kid doesn't hear from the school they have committed too it makes it easy for another school to change their mind.
