I am a Belfry Pirate thru and thru and always will love my Pirates above all else. But today when I saw Highlands representing KY on a National level, I have to say "luv them Bluebirds!!!"

 

Go Birds, your team and coach are a class act and you guys are well deserving of all the accolades that go along with a winning program. Keep up the good work!!!

Congratulations to the HHS program, this is great for KY football!

Perhaps if things remain the same next week, HHS can "spin" it as #1 Public HS football team in USA Today. #2 is great as well, but being #1 is always nice.

Lets all agree to disagree. The fact of the matter is HHS is ranked and not one of us can change this. For HHS it is a great thing to boast about. For the naysayers, they can can moan all they want and nothing changes. HHS is one of the winningest teams all time in the NATION folks and that is going to add to their case. By the way, Male is also top ten in this category. All season long I have seen posts after the USA 25 poll from around the country about this team and that team being great and should be ranked , etc....

When you have a team win three state titles in a row, one loss in four years and playing up in class, somebody will take notice. And it doesn't hurt if you get a little PR from some or a coach who is as proud of his program and not afraid to tell the world. Congrats BIRDS on a great season and the wonderful memories. Take the ranking, whatever it is, and be proud.

Not a Highlands fan, in fact the two schools I route for/Support are CovCath and NewCath, arguably Highlands biggest rivals the past 30 years.

 

As I always say you can love em or hate em, but you have to respect them!

 

This just makes you respect them more. I think that is what this ranking shows, that people respect and admire the success this team/program has achieved.

 

I hope they are ranked in the top 10 again next year in September. That will make it all the more exciting if the Colonels can knock them off!

#3 playing #4 from Texas. Unfortunately KY and NJ football not as highly thought of as TX. Florida big school teams are #12 and #13. Don't think they will jump, but maybe Texas. Let's hope for a bad, close game, not one team dominating the other.

#12 Plant plays #13 Manatee for the 5A title Friday night. Should be a great game. The winner may break the top 10, but no way they jump anybody in the top 5. The Florida big school title, 6A, will be Miramar against Deland Saturday night.

 

Although I'd like Highlands to stay where they are, as I said earlier in this thread, I wouldn't be surprised if the winner of Katy / Abilene jumps Highlands. That's the problem with polls. Being done hurts you sometimes.

That's what it's all about right there my friend. No one individual team or player. It's the program and to take a quote from Dale, "this years team stands on the shoulders of all the other teams". Without their endless dedication in and out of the program, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Where will Highlands stand in the final USA Today ratings after last night's TX finals?

 

Abilene #4 beat #3 Katy for the Texas 5A-II state title and finished as undefeated state champs in Texas.

 

Lake Travis TX #11 also won the Div. 4A-I TX title and finished undefeated. That is their third consecutive title and 46th consecutive win.
