December 11, 200916 yr Jeff Quinn, the OC, will be the coach for the bowl game. That is the better choice... I had earlier heard it was Coombs.
December 11, 200916 yr I thought I heard Coombs was the Associate Head Coach. If so, it only makes sense that he coaches the bowl game if a replacement is not found...regardless of his experience. No one has questioned Kelly before today, why would we now?
December 11, 200916 yr Jones would be a good choice. I wonder if the new facilities, easier academic standards, money could sway Harbaugh? His chances of winning a confrence championship every year there compared to going against USC, Oregon and teams on the uprise like Washington/Ariz would be much easier in the Big East IMO. Longshot but worth looking at IMO.
December 11, 200916 yr I know Jones is the front runner or so it sounds but I am a BIG Peterson guy. I would take every cent they offered BK and give it to him. He is a proven winner and UC would not skip a beat. He is probably feeling the effect Calapari was feeling about being in a weak conference by now.
December 11, 200916 yr Peterson I believe has a sick son and they are very happy with his current doctor. Peterson is not going any where. I think it would be interesting if they went after Sumlin. It would be a step up for him and he would fit. UC has a number of guys with (insert title) head coach. Coombs is one and so is Quin. There might be another one also.
December 11, 200916 yr Yes. He didn't get that one, and won't get this one either IMO... He would seem like a logical choice to at lease consider. However, if he didn't get the CM job, I can't see him getting this one. Wonder what is wrong with him? If I were a UC fan I wouldn't want Skip Holtz or Kerry Coombs (not sure he is even considered a reall candidate).

Too much of a lateral move IMO. He will be able to get a job in the SEC, Pac-10, Big 10 or Big 12 pretty soon IMO.

Longshot but worth looking at IMO. Harbaugh is also above UC IMO. He will be able to move to the NFL soon enough. Also, he's recruited very well at Stanford and continues to do so. Luck will only be a Sophomore and that will be his ticket to a bigger job IMO.
December 12, 200916 yr From twitter: schadjoe- UH coach Kevin Sumlin speaks with, withdraws from Cincy search.
December 12, 200916 yr Sumlin is off the list. I hope they try to contact Peterson and at least have him say no thanks. Also wonder about Tuberville. I think UC needs to aim very high then go from there.
December 12, 200916 yr Sumlin says no to interview w/ Cincy: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4737118
December 13, 200916 yr I'd love to see a Fulmer or Tuberville at UC, I think they got some raw deals toward the of their last jobs at Tennessee and Auburn. They both contributed alot to both programs and are darn good coaches. I think they would be able to maintain where UC is at right now and keep them competing for years to come.
December 13, 200916 yr Right now out of the candidates (all 2) as long as UC doesn't hire the Temple coach I will be happy. Fulmer or Tuberville would make me very happy. Speaking of coaches, has anyone heard that Kelly will be taking his whole coaching staff with him to ND?
December 13, 200916 yr Harbaugh is also above UC IMO. He will be able to move to the NFL soon enough. Also, he's recruited very well at Stanford and continues to do so. Luck will only be a Sophomore and that will be his ticket to a bigger job IMO. He's the next to make a big step up. I agree he's got a shot to be big but what big job is going to be open? Cincy is building everything new as far as I know. Easier confrence, athletes in place, more money etc. He could get in the NFL right now if he wanted. His brother is there and there are a lot of ties. I've got a best friend that is coaching with the 49ers. He and Harbaugh are good friends as San Fran and Stanford are close practice facility wise. I look for John to move up in college a bit before he takes the Pro plunge. People forget their dad was the head coach at Western when they won it all several years ago. My friend was the QB on that team. You would be amazed at the KY connections in the NFL especially through Morehead!
