Is this the year Holy Bishop DeSales (formerly Bishop David, DeSales and Holy Cross of Louisville) finally gets over the hump and wins the first state football title in the combined schools histories?

Or is this year that Coach Glaser steps down after 58 years of leading the St. X Tigers in a valiant effort to match the 33 State Titles of archrival Trinity (The Tigers have won 11 straight after luring Coach Coverdale away from the Rocks with a Head Coach in Waiting offer)?

Alas, can the Highland Bluebirds, playing up in 3A with a male enrollment of 23 boys (all of whom play football and run sub 4.5 40's) earn their 34th State Championship to maintain their all-time lead over the Rocks?

The only thing you forgot was that all 23 got perfect scores on their ACT and SAT scores.

Not this year... HHS has track stars at the skilled positions and no one starts both ways.. Highlands would win because of their superior line on both sides of the ball...:jump:

 

Ok You say they are track starts but i think that they have to wear pads when they play football. It is very rare that a kid can run track fast and be able to run fast with pads, avoiding tackles, and holding onto a football at the same time and be at the same speed. Bardo looked fast enough to me when he returned the second half kick-off 99 yards for a TD.

And another thing that is bothering me u say Highlands Manhandled Cinni X but the score was 12-5. Yes StX lou lost to them (24-7) but that last 2 score came late in the forth with underclassman trying to make a name for himself and after that game the problem was delt with. I will use my quote from here earlier.....

 

StX played Highlands in '05 and '06. the '05 score was 45-0 and the StX defense only played a total of 28 plays Tigers win. The '06 score was closer 35-21 Tigers win. But i think most HHS fans are not looking at Cinni X's Schedule this year leading up to there match up. Colerain, Indianapolis Cathedral, Louisville St. Xavier, Trinity High School, Highlands High School. The last i heard the first 4 teams are pretty good yes Trinity was down but still thats one wicked hard schedule. i and not going to take anything away from the HHS team. The Cinni X win is an outstanding accomplishment even though only by 5 its a win. But i am trying to make a point in that maybe Cinni X could have been worn out with the first 4 games....teams are known to do that but none the less they lost.

 

All that said i pick StX(Lou) over Highlands anyday. Go Tigers

But MaxPreps Freeman Rankings do take out of state competition into account and they have St. X. at #16 and Highlands is not even in the Top 25. It seems like you are not getting the "love" no matter what is considered. :lol: :sssh: :lol:

Here are some more rankings for everyone to discuss. On the final week of the Massey Rankings, Highlands dropped from 1st to 2nd, while St. X. jumped from 2nd to 1st. It took the computer a while, but it got it right in the end. :clap:

The Highlands "boys" track team only scored a total of 10 points in last spring's state meet. I guess the 4x400 relay, which won the 2A in 3:26, was the only scoring entry in the whole meet for the Birds.

 

For comparison sake in Class 3A, St. X. was 3rd in the 4x400 in a time of 3:23 (a full 3 seconds faster than Highlands time). In addition to this the Tigers won the 4x800, and had 5th place finishes in both the 4x100 and the 4x200 relays.

 

I think this fully demonstrates the speed and speed depth superiority of the Tigers over the Highlands. Want to talk some more about "track stars"?

How many of those guys on X's 4x4 start on the football team?

Am I the only one who thinks this thread has run its course? Bottm Line: both had great championship teams this year and their respective seasons are over. Finis!

Again, for the record, let me state that I interviewed Cincinnati St. Xavier's coach on the field after the Highlands game and asked him to compare Highlands with Louisville St. X and Trinity. He said he wouldn't do that, but went on to say that the big difference between Highlands and the two teams from Louisville was that Highlands was so much quicker and faster on offense and defense, and that his team had no way to counter that kind of speed.

 

Highlands whipped Cincinnati St. X. Cincinnati St. X whipped Louisville St. X and Trinity. End of story.
