Trousdale TN, was pretty explosive...they scored 40 on Mayfield in Week 1...I am well aware of BGP rules thank you and was just asking a question...Mayfield has seen better teams than this LCA team in recent years.

I think LCA was a better team than Trousdale, mainly because they had a better QB. LCA would have had more trouble with there Dline than they did Mayfields, but, I think they would have beaten them. Would have been a great game. The night Mayfield played them, it was week 2 and teams get better and I'm sure Trousdale did, and Mayfields offense played much better w/o the turnovers. I believe this LCA team was better than Beechwoods from last year or the year before. The NCC team from the 2 prior yrs was probably better and the Danville teams from those 2 yrs probably were as well, but, LCA would have given them all they wanted.

Well, LCA was beaten by Beechwood 2 years ago with pretty much the same stars on hand for LCA. I know you are saying this year's LCA versus that year's Beechwood but I wanted to make that point. I really don't think this year's LCA would have beaten last year's Beechwood team. Last year's Beechwood team was very, very good.

 

As to yesterday's game, I just finished watching the replay and I am even more convinced that this game was so much closer than what the score shows. These two teams looked very evenly matched with one exception - Lucas Witt. I didn't hear who the MVP was, but if it wasn't Witt he was robbed. If I were to rank the players on LCA, I put Witt #1, Burdette #2, West #3 and Hayden #4. I know Hayden was playing with an injured toe, but Mayfield did a good job bringing him down on the first hit. Maybe I was expecting too much out of Hayden. Yeah, yeah...the stats are great. He had a lot of carries to get those yards and his line did a very good job getting those yards for him for the most part. His second TD run was very nice, definitely his best run of the day and the one that impressed me the most. He is an undoubtedly an excellent back but I have to say I was hoping to see more. Like I said, the other 3 LCA players mentioned above impressed me more than Hayden did.

Jeesh...tough crowd!!! Hayden averages 5.5 yds a carry in the game on a bum toe and ankle and people say they were disappointed. I can promise you that there is not a better back in the state than a 100% Hayden.

I did, LCA is a machine this year, we tried to tell everyone, but they didn't want to hear it.

 

My thoughts exactly Ram, that LCA team has been together (and with alot of them starting) since their freshman year I believe. LCA was just a machine this season.

After a lot of boasting from other teams, I think we now know who had the best skill players in Class A.

I believe they may have had both, the LCA line was dominating on both sides of the ball all season and I don't think there are many (if any) skill players in the state like LCA had this season. Putting it simple....LCA was by far the best 1A football team in the state this season. Several of us (non LCA people) called it before the season saying they would dominate everyone all the way to the State Chamnpionship. That score was no suprise at all.

If LCA would've played Beechwood last year in the state final it would've been a toss up. Most of LCA's players were sophmores when they lost to Beechwood 38-35 in the State Finals. LCA never trailed against a single A team all year this year. The only time a game was even close was against Hazard.

Some here are talking about some of the great Beechwood teams and Danville of 03,what about Mayfield of 02? 15-0 , beat Beechwood , Mater Dei from Evansville,a great Tilghman team that had Joe Casey and Hunter Cantwell and a good Danville team that won in 01 and 03. 6 or 7 of these young men got college rides from KY and Louis.and Murray. This team should be mentioned as one of better teams from this era. I give LCA its due but I don't know how it stacks up with some of these teams

They WERE a lot better. The Bulldogs drove 4 hours, to a hostile environment, and still almost beat LCA. I give them great credit for that.

Sorry. I am not trying to take anything away from Hayden but Simpson is so much better. The only people who will disagree with that are those that haven't seen Simpson play. Let me use this analogy that UK fans will see what I am saying. Eric Bledsoe is a great point guard. But he is no John Wall. Hayden = Bledsoe. Simpson = Wall.
