As a big FSU fan I am disapointed in how this was done. From day one FSU has handled this wrong. They have basically insulted the man. I am not saying his time was not at the end.

 

Not that FSU will ever care, but I am not sure when I will root for my Noles again.

 

They are making a mistake with Jimbo. He has displayed poor judgement this season. Three different games this season his has had poor clock management. On top up questionable play calling.

 

The worse thing a University can do is have a coach in waiting.

 

Coach Bowden is a legend and deserved better than he got. :madman:

 

I am okay with the coach in waiting. However, I agree 110% that Bowden deserved better. Where was FSU before Bowden left Morgantown for the sunshine state? He built that program.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to see Bobby go out like this, but the reality is that if he didn't want it to end this way, he probably should have moved on a few years ago. The Florida/Florida State game was one of the most painful events I've ever witnessed as a Seminole fan, and I think it was the final straw. It was time to move on, whether Bobby knew it or not. Honestly, for about the past decade we've heard the "on his own terms" stuff. We can dial up all the reasons next year might have been his last, but the real reason he'd have left after next year was the significant amount of money they'd have owed Jimbo if he didn't. Was that going to be Bobby's own terms?

 

Blame the president, blame the boosters if you must. This whole "I'll never root for FSU again" stuff is ridiculous. It was time. I'm sorry that Bobby couldn't be counted on to realize that himself. I really wish he had. It would have been best for everyone.

 

As a Miami fan I have always respected the FSU program. Sure they've been in some trouble, but I think Bobby has had a great career and has been a classy guy. FSU-Miami is a friendly rivalry, most Canes fans respect FSU and like for them to be good. I can't say that anymore. Next year will be the first time that I will want UF to absolutely spank FSU.

 

Running Bowden off? Seriously? There wouldn't be too many FSU fans on this board if not for him, he made FSU and did it with class for the most part. FSU is one of the reasons college football is what it is today. IMO, FSU-Miami made college football. Teams copied their blueprints for success. Teams started to recruit speed, treat college as training for the NFL, etc. FSU would still be a garbage program if not for that man. Why do kids go to FSU? Even if it isn't directly said, it's because of Bowden. It's the culture he created. Bobby Bowden made FSU not the other way around. You don't treat a legend like that. FSU wants to cry about winning 6 games, but without Bobby coming to town all those years ago, 6 wins might have been the average season for FSU. Look at his run of top 5 finishes, it's unmatched in modern football. If Bobby stuck around and ran FSU in to the ground (it's not) then it was his right IMO. He earned that. What goes around, comes around IMO. If the man wanted to coach until he was on his deathbed that would be fine IMO.

 

And it's not because I want FSU to be bad. I don't. I want FSU and Miami to get back to greatness together. It makes college football better. I just can't believe FSU would be so thankless of what he has done. It's like putting a fully healthy, functional, and mobile parent or grandparent in the retirement home just so you don't have to take care of them IMO. Bobby loves the university, and IMO they should have repayed him for his loyalty.

University officials are hoping Bowden will return next season as a fundraising ambassador, but he has not indicated whether he'll agree to such an arrangement.

 

Just go to show the people at FSU have no class. First they want to throw out the man you made FSU but in the same breathe they want him to raise money for the school. He will more than likely do it because he loves FSU. (If it was me I would tell them to shove it.)

Hasn't Bobby earned the right to decide when it's time to go. The man knows more about football than this entire board combined most likely. He came to FSU when it wasn't a great job and turned it into a top 10-15 program. They should have stuck it out with him. He has been loyal and is great role model for the program.

Yes he would have earned it.

 

As for Miami, we haven't been lucky enough to get anyone like Bowden. But, if he were at Miami, yes I'd want him as long as he wanted to be the coach in that situation. Miami coaches always leave for greener pastures. If Shannon catches on he could end up like Bowden. If he wins that much during his career he can stay until he dies IMO. What program has not had down years? Sure Bowden isn't the same guy, but the FSU program has shown him no respect in this situation.

If I felt Bobby was still actively coaching, I might feel differently. But Bobby is already nothing more than a figurehead. I just don't see who it benefits or why he would even want to be there.

And now they need a coach that coaches everyone. Coaching the coaches only works if your staff is quality.
