What are you thankful for?

Featured Replies

I know it's early, but it's appropriate. We celebrate this day in Thanksgiving for many things, but I always love reading/hearing people talk about their blessings. Have at it!

Being that I've been traveling the last few months for work...I'm very thankful to just be home and share these few days with family and friends. I guess you could say I never fully appreciated it until now.

Thankful for my two wonderful children. If they are happy then I am happy. If they are not happy, I hopefully can find a way to make them happy. They are a blessing.

I am so happy and thankfully to have my Daughter home for this Thanksgiving, as it has been almost five months since I have last seen her. Only a Dad could understand how much I have missed my Daddy Hugs and Daddy Kisses from my little girl.

My wife and I are also so very happy to be able to announce that our beautiful Daughter has said yes to her Boyfriend proposal of marriage two weeks ago and both families couldn't be happier for them.

I truly am not losing a Daughter but gaining a wonderful Son who I know loves my Daughter with all his heart and soul and who will take care of her.

Indeed my wife and I have a lot to thankful for this Thanksgiving and indeed thank you God for the love and blessing he have given us this year. Thank you Lord!

1. Thankful for family (namely wife, kids, mom, stepdad)

2. Thankful that my business has held up well during this terrible economy (I was working late the other day, worn out and all, but then got to thinking how luck I was to be so busy).

3. Thankful for friends.

4. Thankful for health.

5. Thankful that Sierra Mist Diet Cranberry Soda is back!!!

I'm thankful my spouse was able to travel to see his brother in Arizona this past week. It's been 12 years since they've seen each other. My brother-in-law is not in good health. They talk several times a week long distance. I'm waiting for our daughter to return from the airport.

Thankful to still have both parents living. Dad is 90 and mom is 81. They still live on the farm and do fairly well for thier age. I am thankful for my husband and son...I am blessed. I have many things to be thankful for, thank you God for blessing me and my family.

I've been looking forward to this holiday, this year, for months. The simple reason is that, this year, more than any in recent memory, I have so incredibly much to be thankful for. I guess most of it I've shared with you all as it happened. But let me see if I can recall some of them.

In August of 2008, I set out to lose enough weight to have a shot at getting a plastic tracheostomy tube removed from my throat. I was very blessed along the way, as everyone knows I don't posses the willpower to have succeeded on my own. By Spring, I had gotten far enough to ween myself from a ventilator I slept attached to for a decade.

In June, my prayers were truly answered, as the trach tube itself was taken out. That was great, but they couldn't assure me when the hole would heal in my neck. Their guess was a week or two. But since it was unprecedented to remove one of these after ten years, they just didn't know. In order to speak, I had to keep the hole covered with a special Band-aid while it "healed." Problem is, it never did. Finally, in September, it was sewn up for good.

While all that was going on -- in fact, just more than a week after the trach tube was removed -- I started getting treatment for a serious wound on my hip. The first wound care clinic we went to was a living nightmare. I was berated, accused, belittled and generally made to feel terrified. I was told I'd need massive surgery to remove most of my hip, just to live. I'd be in the hospital a month, need a colostomy and iliostomy, sit crooked and be nearly bed ridden for the rest of my life...oh, and I still might lose my leg, or not even make it at all.

There was much more to it, and many frightening moments, but the happy ending is that a friend of mine recommended another doctor whom I was able to see, just in the nick of time. She said everything I was told was hogwash, and that I could be treated in a more natural (and respectful) manner. It's been about five months: no surgery, no sitting funny, no lifestyle change -- nothing. I'm nearly completely healed now. She is an angel!

I probably shared the story of having an IV port removed from my chest in September. I won't go into detail, except to say that it had also been in over a decade and was in no mood to come out. Right now, the port is out, but the catheter tube is still resting in a vein above my heart. The consensus seems to be that it "should" be okay where it sits. I had a chance to agree to a radical and very risky removal attempt, but decided instead to rest it in God's hands. To date, all is well.

There have been so many more good happenings in the realm of health, family, and business this year, but I've rattled on enough already. It's been an amazing roller coaster of a year, but the result is that my life is truly transformed. I look back at where I was in the simmer of 2008, and just can't believe it. God gets all the glory for these changes; but my family, friends and you all get the credit for helping along the way and sharing in the wild ride. I'm thankful for all of these things, for my family, and for all of you.

Hope everyone travels safely, and has a great Thanksgiving! :thumb:

I'm thank for so many things:

My daughter, and that she's making such a great life for herself after some very serious troubles.

My son who's doing so extraordinarily well in school, at his job, and in life overall.

My son's fiancee who is absolutely a dream.

My mother and father and no serious health issues right now.

My sisters, brother and brother in law and sister in law who are wacky, crazy, maddening. They make life interesting.

My two nephews that are set on very different paths, but both so wonderfully unique.

My job, which is more secure now than ever, which is such a rarity in my industry.

My friends, most of which I met through BGP. :D

My dog, who is really and truely my joy in life.

I am thankful for my husband. We struggled for so long to be together and now to finally live together in the same state and in the same house is such a blessing for us. Please don't ever take your marriage for granted.

I am grateful for my family. Our last few years together as a family have not been easy years. Our mother was so sick for so long and her children took total care of her and after a while that put a terrible strain on our relationship with each other. I am grateful that we are finally going to sit down together this coming saturday as a family and eat our first Thanksgiving meal together in a couple of years.

I am grateful for my friends. I don't know what I would have done without them, especially in the last few years.

I am grateful that a good friend of mind got so much accomplished in his life this past year. There are not enough words in the english language to tell him how very proud I am of him.

I AM ALSO PROUD AND GRATEFUL TO BE A BOYLE COUNTY REBEL!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

1. My two healthy children and wife.

2. The best parents anybody could ever hope for along with 2 great sisters (they are all healthy too).

3. My health.

4. A job that pays great but still allows me to be able to coach which is my passion.

5. So many great friends!

6. God and a great church family.

7. The experiences I've had and the ability to learn from them both good+bad.

I'm just really bitter this year and just think its time for some changes in my life, only problem is I'm not really sure what to change, so I'm just not feeling like I got a lot to be thankful for, even though I'm sure I've got lots

I am thankful for the relationship I have with Christ.

Thankful for a wonderful wife.

Thankful for 2 great childern.

Thankful to have my grandfather around another.

Thankful to be employed.

Just thankful to have a place like BGP to chat and be goofy.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm very thankful for my two year old son. Everyday is a new adventure, some good some bad, but I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Thankful for it all
