The players didn't make plays, plain and simple. Two lost fumbles in the fourth quarter, a missed field goal, and receiver's can't get open in the red zone. That's not coaching.

All well and good, but the Bengals aren't going to go undefeated the rest of the way either. That loss yesterday is as big as every loss they will incur this season.

I'm not as upset as many are over this loss. We gave the game away, but we weren't going to win them all. As long as we win the next 2 we'll be fine.

 

Remember, everybody was doubting this team when we lost to Houston. No way we could beat Chicago, Baltimore and then Pittsburgh, right?

 

We're fine. Just another bump in the road. This team has shown a great ability to bounce back. If we lose next week, you'll see me get concerned.

I didn't realize that just now being tied to NE makes it certain that NE gets the 2 seed now. I mean all of NE's losses have come against AFC teams too. Actually the Chargers tied to with us, and I think right now they have the tiebreaker over both of us. However the Bengals hold their own destiny against the Chargers. New England still has the Saints, Texans, and Jags on their schedule don't they? Those aren't easy games, they probably will lose another one sometime in there. If the Bengals tie with New England for the two spot, and have the same amount of losses, I think it comes down to common opponents. Which would be the Jets, Broncos, Ravens, and Texans. We both lost to the Broncos, both beat the Ravens. We have lost to the Texans, so they might get the edge on us there. However they have lost to the Jets, who we still get to play to. So very well could end up tied in that situation too. I think division record would come next, and if the Bengals record if they beat the Browns will be 6 and 0, which the Pats can't beat. So yeah that lost yesterday hurt our chances a little, but the Bengals still have a very good chance at the 2 seed, and basically control their own destiny for it. So lets not be conceding that 2 seed to the all mighty Patriots yet.

You guys are not wanting to surrender the #2 seed. The Patroits will not lose games to weaker teams. Have you watched them in the past? It just won't happen. If the Bengals can't beat the Raiders on the west coast I do not have very much confidence in beating a much better Charger team on the Coast. After yesterday. how much confidence do we have for the rest of the year? I was riding high on the Bengals and having a very fun football season, but that game yesterday really put a hurtin on my season. :irked:

Coaches put players in position to make plays and to be successful. Yes there was some personal issues and missed plays by the players. There were also two terrible play calls in the fullback run and the lob pass down the sideline on third and four. That could be on Palmer but the coaches abondanded the passing game after the 14-0 lead. The coaches had a terrible game.

However, on the first two drives, the second of which ended in a forced fumble I believe, the Bengals moved all over the field through the air... I understand the run is a necessary part of the offense and had success in spurts today, but Bratkowski totally changed the gameplan and disowned the passing game...

If you would read my post I mentioned that the Steelers got it handed to them today. A Bengal fan started the Final Score thread on the Steelers game and all the Bengal fans were going in and having their fun, and trashtalking as the Bengals were still in the first half.....maybe the Bengal fans should wait a couple of hours next time. That is Karma. The Bengals are decent at this point just like a lot of teams nothing more nothing less. And you guys are so predictable Im going to go ahead and say it. The Steelers are beat up mentally and physically and have some major things to fix and oh yeah they lost twice to the Bengals. But in Bungle fashion you cant handle prosperity.

 

 

So true. I thought this was a sure win. I thought the monkey would come off the back. I drank the Kool-Aid of a great Bengal start. I thought by winning this game they would show us how serious they are about their season, wanting to take the division and set themselves up for home playoff games. After watching the game I wanted to upchuck that Kool-Aid! This team continues to play "not to loose". Bengals get a lead and instead of building on it, they start backing off with conservative play-calling. And the bonehead mistakes. I had a coach who always said he could deal with the physical mistakes but it was the mental ones that drove him nuts. What an opportunity they had Sunday to set themselves up well. But then I remembered..........it's the Bengals.

I hear you, losing Henry was huge. They still have a solid group of Wrs but CH was a game breaker, the guys left are possession guys.
