Based on that I think you have to go with Reed.

 

With those stats, I agree Reed looks better on paper. But even yesterday against the Bengals Reed missed a big arm tackle on I believe Cedric Benson that let the drive be extended whereas Polamalu would have made the tackle. Polamalu might not have more interceptions or score, but he's a better all around safety, IMO. Reed is hands down a better playmaker and athlete.

Well, Sunday, Ed was awful.

 

He had more tackles than Hair did last night...

I hope there is a better argument out there against Reed than what the two guys have done the last two days.

I went with Reed, simply because he also returns kicks sometimes on special teams. I like watching Polamalu more.

Who do you think has had the better career thus far and who do you think will be the better player at the end of both careers???

Well, one's a strong safety while the other's a free safety. And some will argue that there's no difference but there is IMO. I'd say Ed will have the #'s that the best free safety to ever play should have. He's the greatest at his position. SS is called more into run support and there's no comparison with Troy when it comes to that. For what it's worth, Ed is the best FS I've ever seen. And thus far, Ronnie Lott was the best SS I've seen. I suppose that I'll have to wait on Troy and Ed complete to say. How's that for waffling?:lol:

I will give Reed the fact that he is the better ball hawk, but he is a free safety. Troy plays strong safety and plays more to the line of scrimmage. Troy also pretty much set out most of his rookie year.

I would never trade Troy for Reed, but I am sure Balt fans would say the same thing about Reed.

 

Now could you imagine these two on the same team... wow!

I think Ed Reed is the top safety in the league, with Polamalu close behind. There are quite a few good safeties in the league right now, but those two are clearly the best, IMO.

 

There are some young guys I like though...Brandon Meriweather comes to mind. He's playing well this season.

I voted Ed Reed, but until I saw this I kind of felt guilty. I love Reed, it seems like Polamalu makes more plays, but I guess that's not the reality either. I'll take either, and the two may end up as the two best of all-time back there.

 

Reed, what can you say? He's just the man.

 

Polamalu is changing the way safeties play. He can line up anywhere presnap and still control the entire field.

 

BTW, I'd have taken Sean Taylor over both had he been able to play long enough to get in his prime. He was the most gifted safety of all-time IMO.

I would take Ed Reed, but both are fantastic.

Definitely a tough decision, but I took Polamalu.

Ed Reed is a game changer. Polamalu is great as well, but he's not quite the ball hawk that #20 is.
