Another safety to throw in the mix is Brian Dawkins. He's another HOFer IMO.

:thumb: They aren't in the same league IMO. I figured this poll would go this way though, as no Steeler fan is going to vote for Reed. :ohbrother:
But Bengal fans would surely vote for Polamalu without bias? Okay

There are several Bengals fans who voted for him :idunno:

I know that. Most on here are very subjective. I'm just sick of the picking and raking. It's simply a matter of opinion. Some only get on here to stir. Typical.

Without seeing the stats first, my initial response was TP now, ER a couple of years ago.

Now I may just have to waffle.gif&h=94&w=116&usg=__o3R5x4Qv-WHrcN04gc6Or9PSS3s=

Understood. Bengals fans should actually be one of the best to answer because we play them both twice a year.

FWIW, if I were a Steelers fan, I wouldn't vote against my guy either.

Leggo, Yellow Boy...

To be quite honest, I was there Sunday and I was really looking forward to watching Ed Reed. My son and I watched him every play. Frankly, he stunk. My 11y.o. said, "Dad, he's not a very good tackler is he?" and I told him that he should be. He was awful. Carson picked them apart often on the side where Ed was the help over the top. Can't take games off. He and Ray both took this one off. I'll give credit to the Bengals also, they simply dominated offensively from the LOS on. Carson was very accurate for the most part. But Ed was a nonfactor, plain and simple. Very disappointing when you concentrate on watching him waiting for that big play. Heck, he didn't make any routine plays.

^ I was thinking the same thing.

^He had a bad game, I don't think he took it off. He and Ray sometimes try to make the big play (or hit) as opposed to the right one, playmakers do that. Let's not pretend TP hasn't had missed tackles or dumb plays too, I have seen plenty from him as well.

Dude, Ray never ran to either sideline making a play in the first half. Call it what you like. And I wasn't talking about Ed missing one tackle. I'm talking about half efforts and several misses. Look, he's a great player. But he wasn't Sunday is all I'm saying. Very disappointing considering he was the one I looked most forward to watching in person.

So you're casting your vote based on one game? I'm sure Polamalu has never had a bad game either.

Look, Troy is great, he's an undeniable HOF'er, but Ed Reed is the best safety to ever play the game. Period. They are on different levels.

They both kill the Bengals, that's for sure.

You know, you have a terrific career ahead of you in politics with the artful way you put words in people's mouths. I never said that. Frankly, if I were starting a team today and had to choose one or the other as my defensive cornerstone, I'd pick Troy. Plain and Simple.
