Outside of Dixie's first couple games, their defense has really struggled. It's basically been a matter of not being able to tackle. It's really surprising to see them only give up 2 scores tonight.

I've sat thru many of these Dixie leads only to see them give it away later with stupid penalties, turnovers and suspect play calling. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, just stating facts. That being said, I would love to eat crow here with a Colonel victory."

It sounds like they put together a complete game tonight. That first half was sounding like last year's game. Now I'd just like to see some stats. I wish I could've seen it, but didn't feel like driving down myself when the old man couldn't go.

Question for Tomcat fans: Was Ashland looking past Dixie because of their 4 - 6 record going into the game?

I don't think so. Ashland knew this Dixie team from last year. Like Coach Hart stated, Dixie was just the better team. Why would anyone look forward to taking a beating from Highlands anyway? Maybe Ashland is the real winner tonight. :lol:

This was an abrupt end to a nice season for the Tomcats. Congratulations on getting the nine wins. Tough, tough loss tonight though.

I really wasn't shocked that Dixie won but I was suprised that Ashland couldn't generate any offense. Congratulations to Dixie and a sad condolence to Ashland on a great season. 9-2 is not a bad year. When people look back on this season, they'll remember what you were able to do to Ironton and Russell more than this game. Keep your heads up and get ready for basketball.:thumb:

In all seriousness, Ashland had a good season with the win over Ironton being their crowning achievement. They just happen to be stuck in a cycle like Raceland was a few years back where they have to face the northern KY teams early in the playoffs. They seem primed to be the best in our area for the next few seasons, but they have 2 options if they want any playoff success...either get A LOT bigger, stronger, and faster OR figure out a way to get out of that district!

Ashland had 6 turnovers for the night, which equaled their total for the whole regular season - credit goes to Dixie.

 

Ashland attempted over 30 passes tonight - they averaged about 12 per game for the regular season.

 

How ironic. Turnovers have been a problem for Dixie all year and tonight the tables turned on that stat. I think the turnovers help explain Ashland only scoring 14. Congrats to Dixie on a nice win.

Dixie Heights had 348 yards total offense, but it was their defense that came up big holding Ashland to a mere 180 yards of offense.

 

 

Senior running back Corey Klei had 11 carries for 102 yards. Quarterback Ryan Wilson was 10 of 19 for 175 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Offensive stats weren't as big as I had expected, but with the turnovers, maybe they had a short field to work with most of the night.

180 yards offense by the opponent has to be close to a season low for Dixie. Nice job.

Congrats to Dixie on the win. As I stated on the update thread, never would I had believed that Dixie Heights would score like that on Ashand's defense. Good luck to Dixie the rest of the way.

Tomcats, you have nothing to hang your heads about, you were beaten by a better football team. Be proud of the season that you had.
