Highlands is the favorite, but I would like to remind the Montgomery County players and fans that in 1991 Montgomery County beat Highlands in the first round of the playoffs. Stay positive players and fans and support the indians as they go play the best team in the state.

After the Soccer match between CovCath/Montgomery County, I approached a couple of Montgomery County fans/parents to congratulate them on their team and season.

The talk got around to the upcoming football game between HHS and their team and they said they just hoped that the kids didn't get killed. They told me that they would be there rooting on the team but they had heard/read so much about HHS and how good they were, that they just hoped for a good showing by their team!

For those not familiar with Montgomery County the loss to Lloyd could be indicative of a long night.

Before we hear, "'The birds better not take them lightly" or "This team is better than their record indicates," or "Highlands better be ready to play," I'm sure Highlands will be ready and well prepared to play.

Odd looking bunch of games. Did something happen to this team in mid-September like injuries or illness? They were 2-2 and while not exactly looking like a potential sleeper, at least looked like a team capable of putting a decent amount of points on the board. Mason County and GRC aren't patsies, and those games weren't blowouts. Anyone got an idea?

I hope they go back to a 4 class system very very soon. These 1st round games are a joke. No offense to Montgomery Co but in other classes I have seen where teams that havent even won a district game are in the playoffs due to lack of teams.

Birds roll in this one and its a running clock by 3rd qtr.

Could?

Time for the KHSAA to wake-up and realize that 99.9% of the 1st round games are an embarassment to the players, parents and communities of the losing team. Attendance is very low, morale quickly changes after the 1st Qtr and the contest becomes one head coach trying to do everything from preventing injuries and the other is trying everything he can do from his player inflicting injuries! Nothing wrong with a 14 game season...

I hope they didn't mean that literally.

I seem to remember a fair amount of lopsided first round games in the 4-class system as well. Heck, it might have been Montgomery County that came to Park Hills one year with zero wins.

I totally agree.

I wonder how long the varsity goes... not long is my guess.
