November 1, 200916 yr How does one get to Shreveport anyway? Southwest Air. No charge for luggage! Once again some of you are seeing things in Newton that I don't see. He is not accurate which can be improved but his pocket presence and lack of general feel for the game is something that is hard to teach.

November 1, 200916 yr Excellent post. Anyone blaming a loss on a Frosh with very little game experience is really stretching it a bit. The defense lost the game. Newton played about as well as he could. He is still green, but I think there is enough to him talent wise that you can tell he will be an adequate QB, IMO. I'm also with you on King. I think he needs to play more. :thumb: And not just because you called my post excellent UK football is not in the shambles over-reaction type fans would lead you to believe they are. It was a bump in the road, but I still believe in the direction of this program.
November 1, 200916 yr Every true freshman of course does not have pocket presence early in their career. Morgan Newton has a lot more improving to do than most young quarterbacks playing in the pocket. He is very uncomfortable staying in the pocket and going through his progressions. He must work extensively on his "clock" in the pocket. His internal "clock" does not work properly at this point. Yes he is a good athlete, but I would have thought making reads and accurately throwing the football would have come easier to this quarterback with a 5 star rating out of high school. You would be mistaken then. You seem smart enough to know that Indiana high school teams do not have the a)size b)talent c)schemes or d) speed that SEC teams do. So, to assume that a high school qb who has NEVER faced anything like what he faces in the SEC will come in and have "presence" or have his internal "clock" set correctly is unrealistic. You hear it all the time from college qbs. The game gets slower and slower after they've experienced it for a few years.
November 1, 200916 yr The kid we should be talking about and one I completely forgot about was the WR King. He was impressive.

November 1, 200916 yr Classic overreaction by a lot of you. The injuries on D really started to show last night. Micah was not Micah. I am not discouraged by Newton... I was impressed with his running ability. Didn't he have 12 tackles? That's a pretty good night I think. The rest of the DEF is who stunk it up. I still think the Cats get 6 wins and a trip to a bowl.

Sometimes the number of tackles doesn't give a good picture. I'm not saying it did last night in regards to Micah. I'm just saying that when MSU runs a kid 35 times mostly up the middle you should have some tackles.

This was my second chance to watch him this year and he was totally dominate in both games.

November 1, 200916 yr Whooooa. Guessing you disagree, which is fine. I seriously think he's the second best RB in the SEC (behind Ingram).
November 1, 200916 yr Guessing you disagree, which is fine. I seriously think he's the second best RB in the SEC (behind Ingram). Early first round is pretty off IMO. Spiller, Best and Dwyer will all be before him. Last year there was only one RB taken in the first 26 picks.
November 1, 200916 yr Yeah I was real happy with all those bowl games we were going to before Brooks and Joker got here. I agree the last series left a lot to be desired in the red zone, but we did put up 24 points it's not like we were shut out. Again as has been stated many times the defense got gashed last night and made very few adjustments coach Brown let us down. Yea, that's why if you read my post you will see where I questioned the Defensive scheme for last night. It doesn't take a genius to know the D was terrible when you get gashed like they did. So duh, yea Coach Brown was terrible too. IMO Joker has been terrible in his play selection in critical situations. Also I have been a UK fan just as long as you and know all to well how UK use to be. Coach Brooks has done an awesome job. :thumb: Edited November 1, 200916 yr by jvdfc spelling
