Trenton definitely wants to play at the next level and works hard enough to get there. I do not know if he is getting any looks but he should at some smaller schools. He can definitely play small college ball. I'm glad he is a Raider.

Which late hit are you talking about where Hempel through Fennell to the telephone pole or Elliott taking Towels down 4 yards out of bounds on the Highlands sidelines?

 

The PI on Bruns was questionable as well it wasn't a catchable ball.

You guys need to compare better notes. First off, the "preacher" to whom you refer is not short in the slightest, so it certainly wasn't him to whom WhoozYoDaddy is referring about taking someone out. Secondly, the "antics" to which bjim refers last game was him loudly cheering on his team early in the game, which bjim someone found upsetting. Wow. Really over the top. If you find such "antics" so offensive, you should spend Friday nights watching golf or a tennis match. And honestly, before you go taking shots about someone you really don't know in the slightest, you should meet the man. A very classy, sincere, good man who runs an impressive ministry. But since you two seem to know so much about him, please fill us all in.

I was at the game. I personally did not hear "The Preacher" (Who is one of the greatest people I have ever met) say anything of that nature. But what I did hear was the HHS 70 plus crowd mocking Ryle 's coaches calling "Punt team up" MAKING SPORT OF A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM PUNTING. Judging by the time the last post was made by the accusers they were probably the same classy people mocking the coaches for punting. If I remember Highlands punted a few times tonight also. There alot of men and young men in Union KY and wherever his ministry takes him that love him. The world is a better place because of " The Preacher". Preacher do not let a bunch of 70 year old teenagers spoil your passion because WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Highlands pretty much controlled the game. But Ryle played good game.

 

It was actually 24-14 and then Highlands scored to make it 31-14. In the 3rd quarter, Ryle was down 17-7 and with the ball around mid-field and driving when Hempel's pass was tipped and intercepted. There were times when this game could have gotten real close...

Highlands pretty much controlled the game. But Ryle played good game.

 

For those that weren't there this was actually a pretty good football game. Pretty even for the first 20 minutes of playing time after which Ryle had a couple of mental breakdowns that resulted in 10 points just before half while HHS had the bid wind advantage.

 

The first breakdown was late in the 2nd quarter when the HHS wide right receiver was left completely uncovered on a third and long and caught an uncontested 50 yard TD pass. I don't know what the meltdown was, but it was an easy 7 for the Bluebirds. The next breakdown was the Elliot hit on the sidelines. It is debatable whether this would have been a flagged hit if it had occurred on the Ryle sideline, but since it was the Highlands QB, and since he was pretty much running out of bounds on his own, the hit right on the edge of the sideline it was considered a PF and a proper call. This gave HHS a first down on a thrid and very long and put them down to about the 40 with 20 sec. to play in the 1st half. They caught one more pass for about 10 yards and went out of bounds at the 30 setting up the nice long FG as the half ended. If Elliot had not made that hit, however close it was, halftime would have been 14-0.

 

Ryle came out fresh in the 2nd half and completed a nice long drive into the wind making it 17-7. HHS answered right back with a drive of their own, and then Ryle scored again, and then HHS again. And that's about it. Never any doubt who would win unless some key turnovers were to occur in Ryle's favor (which didn't happen.)

 

The big difference in this game was the Highlands defensive line. They were able to put pressure on Hemple and shut down Elliot to a great extent. Once Ryle's Hemple started to run some keepers, things started to loosen up a bit, but it seemed the passing game was a bit off - maybe due to the high winds.

 

Very accurate discription of the game! Hard-hitting and intense. Ryle's QB's Hempel was off (mostly sailing it high) on his throws both from the wind and the quick HHS defense and it cost them on several INT's.

Didn't hear that but I heard "go for it" quite a bit in reference to his decisions in the first game.

 

As to the preacher I suspect the fans are talking about two different coaches on the sideline.

 

I think this game was what the coaches hoped for when they scheduled it and should help both teams as they start their playoff runs. Good luck to the Raiders! Let's stay focused on the goal Bluebirds!

I want to call out one of the Ryle coaches. The short one with short hair and a big mouth. He made it a point to yell at his players on the sideline to "take out number 29!" "If you get a chance to take him out, take out number 29!" You sir, are a moron.

Didn't demonstrate it on the sidelines. Sure wouldn't use the word "classy", however he did appear "sincere" about what he was communicating. Classless clown.

Wow, after such a hard fought game on both sides of the ball, you are complaining about someone that you know nothing about. The man that you are speaking of is a man of great integrity and honor. If you spent one hour with this man you would be a better person for it. He runs a non-profit ministry that does nothing but good things for people all over the world that are less fortunate than you and me. I find it offensive that you would make such unfounded statments about him; you should be ashamed! I don't know who you are referring to but I would bet my life on it that you have pointed out the wrong man.

 

When you witness it, you can't wish it or pray it away...it is what it is. Plenty of "ministers" out there that step outside themselves at times. Uncalled for.

If the Preacher is 50ish and tall, it was definitely not him that was telling his players to take out #29, this coach was probably 30 something and short in comparison to some of the players he was shouting at. Defensive coach from what I could tell.

I was impressed with Ryle CB Carney. Kid has a cast on his arm, but broke up quite a few passes and was in on a ton of tackles. Showed a ton of speed when he ran crossfield to catch Highland's back down the sideline. Appaently was having a very strong year as their punt returner before his injury.

In the old days this type of talk would be laughed at! This game is ultra violent and needs to be coached and played with killer instinct.All this touchy feely stuff is for losers.Of course you tell your players to take some one out!This used to be common motivation! Make explosive clean hits and save the class for visiting him in the hospital!Go Birds! OK you can pile on now!
