Highlight video music ideas

Featured Replies

As usual, I am working on highlight videos for various sports teams and am looking for more ideas for new music for these videos.

Let me know of any new music you would suggest.

PLEASE, to keep Jim Schue happy, no mention of his least favorite AC/DC song (which shall remain nameless) which is often played at many high school sports venues. His head might explode!

Metallica - 90% of their songs work well.

Foo fighters-My hero

Although I really enjoy the one I couldn't mention .

Certain parts of some of the songs from the band explosions in the sky would work great for some of the slower parts in the videos if you have any. They do the songs for Friday Night Lights. And one of the under armour commercials on ESPN. The three best for that are; "you're hand in mine", "six days at the bottom of the ocean", "first breath after coma.

I can't think of any others right off hand. But if you search "football highlights" on YouTube you will get tons of results.

The kids will like "Run this Town Tonight" its a new song by Rihanna and Jay-Z.

You should probably leave out the Queen classic too. Over used!

Remember the Name - Fort Minor

Blow me Away - Breaking Benjamin

Thunderstruck - AC/DC

Remember the Titans Theme - From the Soundtrack

Pillar - For the Love of the Game, Frontline (awesome song)

I always liked a little "More Human Than Human".

Fake it - Seather

Train - Three Doors Down

It's Not My Time - Three Doors Down

Sound of Madness - Shinedown

Soundtracks can make much more impact than lyrics, start with Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer, Boston Pops Orchestra, City of Prague Philharmonic, John Williams, any Olympic soundtracks, Michael Kamen, Randy Edleman, Randy Newman, Russian State Symphony(O Fortuna(the Omen), Trevor Rabin,Vangelis, and any group with College Fight Songs.

Use ITunes to search for movie soundtracks, look for themes of movies, opening and closings.

Blend your clips to the the music, cut on the timeline, and you can shape your audience emotion, to simply play hard rock with no symbiotic relationship, is like watching game films with the radio on.

What did you just say? We eat nachos, drink adult beverages, and scream at the officials for every thing that we don't like, or don't think we like. We want everyone to get a trophy, everyone to win a State Championship, and want everyone to make the All-State team. We want to blame everyone for our teams failure, except for our team, and want everyone to admit that our team is better no matter if they win or loose.

And, you think he is going to shape his audience's emotion with some music.:D

I have done highlight videos for teams from numerous sports for the better part of a decade (football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc). I always try to make the music fit what is going on. I just did a quick hitter for a volleyball team that featured the song 'Girls with guns' from Tommy Shaw. It worked out perfect. However, for a sports highlight video, you need contemporary music for the kids, .. and that is who the video is for.

Often, players or coaches will request that certain songs play during the highlights for a particular game. I always oblige as it is for them.

You had some excellent suggestions and I appreciate it! I have used some of those artists before and there is some EXCELLENT music to choose from! :thumb:

Two songs I have used for highlight films in the past for football - and both lend themselves to segments where you are highlighting the defense...

"We're Not Gonna Take It" - Quiet Riot

"The Lightning's Hand" - Kansas (showing my age a little)
