Who are you to decide what constitutes a news organization?

 

Tapper: It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –

Gibbs: Jake, we render, we render an opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness that, the fairness of that coverage.

 

Tapper: But that’s a pretty sweeping declaration that they are “not a news organization.” How are they any different from, say –

Tapper: ABC. MSNBC. Univision. I mean how are they any different?

 

Gibbs: You and I should watch sometime around 9 o’clock tonight. Or 5 o’clock this afternoon.

 

Tapper: I’m not talking about their opinion programming or issues you have with certain reports. I’m talking about saying thousands of individuals who work for a media organization, do not work for a “news organization” -- why is that appropriate for the White House to say?

It's a three ring circus at the white house these days. The Democrat's President can't handle any kind of criticism that might bruise his ego. His arrogance and self righteousness makes me want to puke.

W. certainly had his problems, but they weren't near what we are seeing from this President. W. arrogance was more in the way of just ignoring others, Obama not only wants to ignore what others do he wants to rub their face in how there is nothing they can do about it.

Here is an interesting theory that I have, unsupported by any substantial evidence:

 

The Obama Administration, with their appointment of certain officials, their espousement of certain policies related to the media, the First Amendment, and other sundries, really is beginning to look more and more like Orwell's Animal Farm. They actually believe that Fox News is not a news organization and that MSNBC is, and further they believe that the government ought to legislatively muzzle organizations such as Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, etc.

 

These things are electric, big, big business for media outlets. NBC and its affiliates, CBS, the New York Times, and several other news organizations are losing money like crazy. Hand over fist.

 

I predict that the news organizations that are losing money the most will use the media muzzling adminsitration issues to have a one-time-only joining of ranks with Fox and others to turn their backs upon the Obama administration, by the time of the next election.

I'm not sure that the administration's opinion of Fox News is good politics, but I am absolutely sure that it is accurate.

I agree. But the same can be said for every other "news" outlet as well.

 

Our country has become so polarized that we can't even get objective news reporting anymore. Fox claims to be "Fair & Balanced" but nothing could be further from the truth.

 

Obama is making a mistake here, just as he starts to gain some ground w/ the health plan. Many journalists/reporters--competitors of Fox, mind you--are standing against the administration on this.

I, in general like Obama. I think he is very intelligent and I like some of the things he has done, but I think he needs a new Press Secretary bad! Gibbs does a poor job IMO.
