Bottomline bieng nobody in 1A right now could beat any of the teams Beechwood has lost to.

No one has said they would, certainly not myself.

I don't think anyone is saying they wouldn't have a chance.

The only team in 1A that might be able to beat Holy Cross, Dixie or Cov Cath is LCA. That "pretty decent" Holy Cross team beat Pikeville 32-14 in Pikeville, beat Lou. Holy Cross 26-10 and beat Bellevue 36-20.

I think that one was effctively debunked.

I called that game and although I thought the Beechies did achieve some success against he Birds Defense at times I also thought the Birds looked like they lacked desire and were dreadful. I was extremely concerned for the Birds after that game but they seemed to have turned over a new leaf and that was during the St. X game.

 

With that said, Beechwood did have success with their spread formation and with Rigdon running keepers. I think if the two teams played next week that Highlands would shut them out PERIOD.

I love how so many from KY's Football triangle (louisville - lexington - cincy) think that WKY football cannot compete with the rest of the state... and granted that may be true for many of the teams down here. However, this is NOT Mayfield's first time at the rodeo, we have seen enough teams (state runner up and state championship) over the decades to know what we've got down here. Just know the last stop on the road to Bowling Green WILL come through Mayfield. Good luck in getting here and have a safe ride home!

If you look at the strength of schedules Beechwood vs Mayfield. It don't compare. Mayfield is a very very good team. I'm not knocking them. Please get that straight. But Look at the teams records you have played vs Beechwood. The Fulton schools. Neither could beat any Northern team. Thats two. #3. Ballard Memorial has won two games and lost six games by an avg of 28 ppg. #4. Calloway Co 3 wins They lose by an avg of 27.2 ppg. #5 Paducah T. 3 wins 6 loses. So to compare is crazy. That being said. I think Mayfield it an awesome team. And they will prove it friday night. As will Beechwood.

I'm saying you're giving them a whole lot of credit for dominating there district and my point is Dayton, Ludlow, WVerona and BBrossart are every bit as bad as Ballard, Fulton Co and Fulton City and that's not saying much. As far as Holy Cross, I don't think beating Pikeville is anything to brag about when there other 3 losses were by 45+ except theres. Not sure beating an average 1a team(Bellevue) changes my mind either. I'm not sure Mayfield or LCA would beat Dixie or CCath, but, I feel relatively certain it wouldn't be a blowout like it was vs Beechwood..

In 2008... LCA whipped Hazard during the regular season. When they met again in the 2008 playoffs, Hazard put that loss behind them and turned the table on LCA. Likewise, in 2007 the same thing happened between these two teams with LCA losing the regular season game, and then winning against Hazard in the playoffs.

 

So while it's fun to speculate and play what ifs with who beat who and who could beat who... it's all pretty meaningless until that game is a reality and has been played. Because "anything" can happen in High School football. That's why we love this game!

I realize Beechwood is Beechwood and saying they've played the toughest schedule in 1a is just that. Last year they beat Dixie 29-6 and lost this year 47-7. They beat Holy Cross 28-7 away and won in ot at home this year 36-35 and scrimmaged Highlands last year. Beechwoods always good, but these numbers suggest not as good as in the past.
