^I was thinking the same thing I just didn't post it. Just because they have some losses to some of the top big programs in the state, doesn't mean you can count them out.

Beechwood isn't nearly the same team as they were last year and Crittenden is better. I think either Mayfield or CC will beat Beechwood this year, if they even make it that far. Wouldn't be shocked to see Frankfort knock off the Beechies beforehand either. I think people are underrating how good Crittenden is. I think LCA is deservedely #1 with Mayfield and Crittenden not far behind, then Beechwood, Frankfort and Hazard all pretty much even. Then 7 thru about 12 is a crap shoot with any of them capable of beating the other...

 

If Mayfield, Critt. Co, Raceland, LCA and any other 1A school had played the schedule Beechwood has played we would all have the same losses. Look at who they lost to. #1 Highlands AAAAA, #8AAAAA Covington Cath. and #10 AAAAA Dexie Heights. Everyone else that is close to 1A schools they have destroyed. I think GA and LuckyD and others are right. Don't look past this what must be a very very good 1A school. I would say that no other 1A, 2A schools have come close to playing the schedule Beechwood has played. They put 20 points on the board vs what many think is the over all #1 team in the state HIGHLANDS. And now that they are playing 1A district games they are putting up 52.0 ppg and only giving up 4.0 ppg. What other team is doing that? This team is good. Very Very Good. I think I would like to play #1 LCA again. JMO And friday they play #9 Bellevue. Now that is a schedule to play.

We all have opinions Ram. To me, Dixie is an average team, at best. I would put LCA or Mayfield against them every day of the week and twice on sundays. Same with Cov Catholic. Not saying they aren't good teams, but, neither is a powerhouse either, except in name in CCs case. I don't consider 2a-Holy Cross a power either, another pretty decent team, nothing more, nothing less and the Beechies were pushed and then some against them. Last years Beechwood team beats this years HCross team by 30+. As far as winning big in district, give me a break, please. It's certainly not like Dayton, Ludlow, BBrossart and WVerona are anything to brag about. I could name over 50 teams in Ky that could put up similar #s against those teams and thats calling off the dogs early 2nd half...

Possibly, but, they'll have to play a whole lot better than they have thus far. They certainly will get the opportunity to prove it..

I think good points are being made on both sides of the above debate concerning Beechwood. Beechwood did score the most points against Highlands this season. Check out Highlands' scores on the scoreboard, the opponents they have played and the points their defense has allowed. Beechwood's offense is clicking very well and is probably more explosive this year than last. The defense has struggled against teams with big offensive lines but changes have been made so we will see if they work the next two weeks.

 

Yes, Beechwood has played the toughest schedule in 1A. The only team in 1A that might be able to beat Holy Cross, Dixie or Cov Cath is LCA. That "pretty decent" Holy Cross team beat Pikeville 32-14 in Pikeville, beat Lou. Holy Cross 26-10 and beat Bellevue 36-20.

 

Yes, the district teams played so far may not appear real strong. But I would say Dayton, Brossart and Walton Verona are better than any other KY 1A opponent Crittenden County and Mayfield have played and Ludlow is 2-3 TD's better than those opponents.

 

Just how good Beechwood is now will show in the next two weeks - Bellevue, then New Cath.

Beat Crittenden County by 3 TD's or more and I will say you can beat Holy Cross. Here is where I am coming from, and I know this is a very inexact way to judge teams but - Beechwood 34 Crittenden County 0, and that is after Crittenden County 26 Mayfield 13. Of course, that was then and this is now but that is about all we have to go on in comparing the teams.
