Nice list. I voted for Andy Griffith, but I would have had Gilligan's Island as a choice above some of the ones you listed.

This was almost like trying to pick my favorite kid! I love all of those shows, but I think the best "family" comedy was The Cosby Show. It obviously covered new ground as far as race, and Bill Cosby just nailed living in a big family. So many times with my crew, my husband and I feel like Cliff and Clair Huxtable, negotiating all the different ages and genders in our house. I still love to watch the reruns.

That being said, I think The Andy Griffith Show almost needs its own category--Best of All Time!

I love Andy Griffith, and I was a huge fan of Leave it to Beaver in my younger days. I just believe Andy Griffith is a classic that will never be topped.

There have been so many great ones over the years! Andy Griffith, Cosby, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Happy Days, Lucy, Seinfeld, Barney Miller, Taxi, etc. etc. etc.

I guess I need to know what constitutes a "family comedy". Our family never missed All in the Family, for example, but is it a family comedy? That would be my favorite.

Of those on the list, I'll go with Andy Griffith; as Don Knotts' Barney Fife may be the best sidekick of all time. NIP IT!
