Rush's bid for Rams in trouble?

Featured Replies

Rush is on the radio 5 days a week, we only heard Marge say stupid things on occasion.

So we forgive the every now and again transgression?

There was some outcry from those outside Cincy to force Marge to sell, including pressure from MLB. She wasn't technically "forced" to, but she was facing a third suspension at the time she sold to the Bananaman.

With the NFL, yayhoos such as Al Davis and Mike Brown are given a pass because of their longevity in the league. But were they to tread in racial waters, I think the tune from the league office would sound different.

Hmmmm. But yet she endured as an owner for a long time, without too many inside the city having a problem. Oh yeah she put a championship team on the field. BTW, she sold to the "Ice Cream Man"

My guess is that whoever made the decision to leave RL out of the loop did so because the feeling was that he would be bad for business.

FWIW, Mark Cuban said that he didn't think Rush would pass muster as an NBA owner, either.

So we forgive the every now and again transgression?

If you're trying to purchase a team and you have someone that makes stupid comments when asked a question, tell them not to do interviews.

Different story when it's someone's job to make stupid comments.

Don't forgive either one, there's just a better chance of avoiding them from someone like a Marge Schott.

So much for our free country as it once was. He should have the opportunity to get part ownership, whether he is approved is another story. As happens a lot these days the inmates run the assylum whatever business you look at.

I heard the best understanding of why the above is wrong.

The NFL is not a free business that anyone can take ownership in. It is an exclusive business that in a sense are run by the owners of each franchise sitting in a sense on the board. If those owners on the board don't want someone else to sit on their board, they have every right to say no.

I don't see how you can say that the "inmate" run the asylum. The vested owners do. And if there is enough outcry from them, where in the constitution or Supreme Court rulings does it say they have to approve a certain sale?

The truth is that Rush got just what he wanted out of this . . . ratings during sweeps time. It was all a ploy by him and my hat goes off to him for knowing his real business and money making machine and using it to the best degree to generate fame and cash. Few do it any better.

Rush isn't the minority players problem in the NFL! It is the holy'er than thou, white media and liberal goof's who pretend to love their dogs more than their wives! Who is always giving TO, Vick, and the boys a hard time? Rush? Nope! Wish he'd buy the Brown's.....at least someone in that organization would be pushing them to win!

Yes, but that's only local with UDF. Worldwide, he's the Bananaman -- Chiquita/United Fruit Co.

So, do you guys think the NFL would let Jay-Z be an owner?

I do, just like the NFL let J-Lo, The Williams Sisters and Gloria Estafan buy into the Dolphins, I think they'd let Jay-Z buy in also. It's not like he'd potentially be bad for business in the same manner as Rush Limbaugh.
