From what I hear Mayfield is a VERY GOOD football team. I would also like to say I think Beechwood is the favorite until a 1A team beats them.

 

Now...let me answer a few things that have been posted. LCA had 2 scrimmages (WHICH MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING). Green County was the first of which LCA won by a TD or two. LCA had only been practicing 1 week when they had that scrimmage. They did not open the first week as most teams as that was their bye week. Their 2nd scrimmage was Frankfort. The score was 48 or so to 7 at halftime (I think--couldve been 42). Both teams JV played most of the 2nd half.

LCA was up 2 TD's on LexCath and had all the mo and the game was then delayed for over 2 hours for weather. When the game resumed the field was a swamp and LCA game out very flat and got beat. IMPO...under normal circumstances or no delay I think LCA wins that game by 2 or 3 TD's.

But the delay happened LC responded and LCA didnt and they won.

 

LCA was up on CPA 28-6 at half. LCA had major cramping issues in the 2nd half and many starters didnt play. No excuses...but thats what happened. As a matter of fact...LCA had 3 freshman playing on D that 2nd half.

 

Last thing...State Championships are won in DEC not Oct. And with the schedule Beechwood has played I think they are the favored...not to mention I dont think a 1A team has beaten them in several YEARS,

I thought that KHSAA rules included five days of practice with helmets followed by 5 days of practice in full pads BEFORE a scrimmage/game can occur?

So, they had indeed been practicing for at least two weeks.

If the Rockets are victorious on October 23rd they will get some more love.

It would be nice if some media from the Lexington-Louisville-Northern Ky area would be there. It might open their eyes to West KY football, and have both programs get the respect that they rightly deserve.

It should be a great game. Good luck to both teams and this could very likely be the first of two meetings this year. I would love to see that game, but will be up north watching the Falcons take care of a little business in Owensboro.

There is no way in these economic times media from Louisville/Lexington/N. Ky. will cover this game. The only hope for coverage would be a feed from W. Ky. media covering the game.

In a couple of weeks, things will begin to look a little clearer. This matchup looks like it would be a great game to catch. Massey has it pretty close with the nod going to CC in a one point game.

 

More often than not, when two teams are matched that closely, and meet again in the playoffs, the loser of the first game approaches the playoff rematch with better focus and hunger and can reverse the previous game results. Good thing we don't play these games with stats, computers and rankings!

I just noticed that Mayfield has another tough game friday. Ballard Mem. What are they 1-6? And before that Fulton C. and what are they 1-6? And before that Fulton C. and what are they 0-6? After those three games you should have a week off to get healthy again. Oh, you do. With that strength of schedule you should be ranked #1.

Hey, we get it ... you don't think much of Mayfield's schedule. By Class A standards, it's still a pretty decent schedule, but some of their regular opponents are down this year.

 

is Raceland's any better?

 

Of course, those three games you mention are district games ... it isn't like Mayfield can just take them off the schedule.

 

Part of the reason for Ballard's slow start is that they have beefed up their schedule after going .500 and winning a playoff game last season, then had four guys that would have started move away and another one die over the winter.

I was trying to get back at UK Fball Fan. He came on the Raceland / fairview post and said it didn't really matter who won this game because LCA would win the district any way. And that neither of us are legit contenders.
