Beat X by 17 and Trinity by 30, doesn't sound like too tough of games.

I definitely agree Highlands is the best team in the state, but I would not be so quick to jump the gun on Trinity and X being down. I mean maybe Highlands is just THAT good. A friend of Mueller's told me that Mueller thinks this is his best team EVER, and that is saying a ton...

 

St.X may not be down, but trust me when I tell you we are this year.

If Bardo is out, that has to mess up the team's timing. Bardo looked like the star of the team Friday night. The replacement QB looked lost when he came in -could potentially cause fumbles/ missteps.....Does anyone know Bardo's prognosis?

They seem to be keeping fairly tight-lipped about the prognosis. They may not be entirely sure yet, although I'd be surprised if that were the case.

 

I can't help but wonder though...is it possible that they're playing this hand a little close to the chest and trying to hide a trump card for their big rivalry game in 3 weeks? Let's be realistic, Cov Cath is going to have a lot stacked against them if they're going to try to pull out a win against the Bluebirds this year. I wouldn't put it past Dale to play a "decoy" QB in the Dixie game while Bardo takes the time to rest his arm. Then they throw in the surprise QB come October 17th just for that more of a point advantage. Sounds kinda crazy, but so's the rivalry.

Well played, well played...

 

I was just saying (and it's all complete conjecture until we find out the real prognosis on Bardo's injury) that Dale may choose keep quiet about Bardo, and opt to play their backup QB this week against the Little Colonels. That way, he keeps Cov Cath guessing as to whether or not they're going to see a game plan based on Bardo's on-the-field leadership, or see a "all new" game plan. An injured Bardo is going to have a pretty serious influence on Highlands' offensive plan, and it's going to be something that Cov Cath needs to prepare for if they have any hope of stopping Highlands' offense.

 

Not that Dixie is a team for Highlands to ignore, per se, but I think considering the effort that Highlands puts into doing all they can to get a "W" over Cov Cath each year, there's a definite chance that Dale might make some choices in the Dixie game for the sake of their impact on the Cov Cath game.

My point was this...Everyone is putting all the marbles on this one win to proclaim Highlands the "No Doubt" best team in the state(I did say I think they deserve to be #1, by the way). Someone like Trinity, for example, could say, we beat Manual 27-0 and you only beat them 19-8, so, for that reason, we're "No doubt" the best team in the state. I doubt anyone from Trinity would do that, just using that opponent as an example the same way you're using Cincy St X as the determining opponent. If St X wins big against Trinity this week, they could easily proclaim themselves, too, especially if they beat Manual(a common opponent) badly in a few weeks...

As I wrote in another forum, I'm starting to think that Phil Simms is a good luck charm for my football teams. In the stands at the Highlands game Friday night, calls the Bengals game Sunday afternoon. Why couldn't he have spent Saturday in Lexington?
