On paper Highlands is number one but I think a Highlands/Louisville St. Xavier game would be very interesting. Especially if both teams approached it properly.

I overhead something really funny this afternoon...

 

I went to the Moeller/Mentor game this afternoon in Cincinnati and before the game started I was waiting in line for a hotdog. Two guys behind me were talking about the Cincy St. X/Highlands game. Here's how it went:

 

Moeller Fan 1: Did you see that St. X lost?

Moeller Fan 2: Yeah. It's always good to see St. X lose.

Moeller Fan 1: I guess so. But how can they lose to a team from Kentucky?

 

I thought it was hilarious hearing the derision the Ohio folks had for Kentucky football!:lol:

Bell Co 12th? I think my Bobcats should be moved up higher. I think Bell should be right there with Boyle Co. Also, how is Henry Clay below Scott Co. when Henry Clay beat them soundly. Fort Campbell also seems awfully high. As for Highlands, yes they'd have to be #1. I wish they could come to Log Mtn this year.

 

Possibly, I'm not real familiar with Bell Co other than I know they're a very good program always right there in the hunt, but, I wouldn't complain about Ft Campbell , because didn't Bell get taken to the woodshed at home by another premier 2a team from Tn earlier this year. I'm not saying they're as good as Alcoa, but, I do think they would represent the west in 2a, 3a or 4a this year and would be right in the hunt in 5a with BGreen, Owensboro and John Hardin. Yes Henry Clay beat Scott, but, they also lost to Lafayette this week, who earlier lost to Boone and GRC, 2 teams who Scott soundly beat. I think 12th is about right for Bell and I'm not too sure it would matter whether Highlands came to Log Mountain or played them on a neutral field or in a cow pasture, I think it would likely get ugly. No disrespect intended, just my opinion...

Who Knows. We won't know till the last game at WKU in Bowling Green. Right now it's all talk and guessing. But yes they look awsome. They have a great chance to be the best in the state. We will all have to wait and see...:idunno:

Only state championships matter at Trinity, not rankings, not regular season matchups and "what if" winners. At Trinity only the teams that win championships are remembered and revered by the Trinity community.

While it appears that Highlands may be the best in the state right now (we'll see how things progress as the season moves along), I think it's important that some of the Highlands fans posting on this thread be mindful of the fact that during most years either Trinity or Louisville Saint Xavier is the best team in KY.

 

I think all of us Highlands fans should keep our collective eyes on the prize... 15-0 and Class 5A state champs... then we can do some debating.

 

SMART. Very smart. Because every 5A school in the state is keeping an eye on you. Everyone wants to knock off the #1 team. I think it makes it harder if that so called #1 team doesn't show respect to others.

No doubt, at this point in the season, but, I wouldn't want to play Trinity in December. They always seem to step it up a notch or 2 come playoff time..

We did....in this thread. At least two of us have said we think Highlands is #1 in the state.

This statement is ridiculous. If I was a Trinity fan I would not be happy. Trinity is one of the most successful programs in the state and for good reason. Just winning state titles is NOT what has made Trinity the great program that it is today. It is the commitment of many, many players, coaches, and fans throughout the years. Some of which, were not on state championship teams. I find it hard to believe that only the teams that win championships are remembered by the Trinity community. Of the many Trinity fans that I have came into contact with and become friends with over the years all have been very classy, friendly, and football intelligent people who I have no doubt would highly disagree with your above statement.

 

 

I would like to thank all of the Trinity, St. X, and other high schools across the state who have been very supportive and cheerful for Highlands in this victory last Friday.

 

 

Now, in an attempt to get back on the topic of this thread. I would agree, this year, Highlands, at this point in the season is the best in the state. But as a Highlands fan, I hope they focus on winning one game at a time and win the game that matters most which is played in December.

Just curious Highlands fans, who have seen all of their games...We all know Cincy X is a very good football team, so congratulations on that victory. But how would you compare the KY 6A teams you have defeated this year? Manual, Ryle, and Boone??

Manual has the best defense and the best linebackers by far. Ryle has the best run game but soft defense. Boone will be lucky to make the playoffs.

I don't know what class Alcoa is, but they had around 100 players and year in and year out have a lot of D1 players. UK has 2 right now and the TE from Alcoa just committed to UK a couple days ago. That was a tough team. I just don't see Fort Campbell being better than the Bobcats.
